We booked through an advert we had seen in the magazine Warship fleet review, a special deal 2 nights stay and a ticket for the attractions to the Dockyard. This is the only reason we booked, we were upgraded to a "superior" room as these were all they had for the dates we wanted. The room although large had no...

The good things about the Club are those that the name suggests. It still has a club-line atmosphere; the bar is popular and there is still a library. If you are visiting Portsmouth it is well positioned for the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf. Breakfasts are good and ample, our room was fine (superior) and the bed was comfortable. The staff...

We stayed here for one night before going to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. Booked here for closeness to the centre and not much else was available. THE GOOD The good thing about this hotel is its proximity to the naval museum and town centre shopping / bay side restaurants which are all a short walk. It's not the...

Upon checking in, we were allocated a terrible room (£95) - it was tiny with just enough room to walk around the bed and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls ! I immediately complained whereupon we were 'upgraded' to a superior room. In reality, it was what we should have been given originally. It was much bigger but quite...

Refreshingly different from the bland hotel chains, real character and sense of history - its double-height art deco lobby is a delightful example of early 1950s architecture redolent of the ocean liners of this golden era. The rooms are adequate and the breakfast excellent, staff friendly and courteous, and the location so close to the historic attractions and Gun Wharf...

I recently had a 4 night stay which included the room with disabled access for my very elderly parents. The room was exceptional in its facilities, space and consideration for, and provision of, specialist equipment. The staff were professional yet friendly; nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was superb with a different menu offered every night. The...

Me and my other half had our wedding reception here on Saturday 18th June in the Trafalgar ballroom, and I really cannot fault a single part of the day or the organisation in the lead up! The whole evening went off without a hitch and they were so organised and accommodating that we were able to enjoy the party stress...

Incredibly expensive for the level of facilities. Our room was very small and dated with only two plug outlets in the entire room. The room was very hot and a fan was provided, unfortunately it wasn't much help and was just circulating hot air loudly! Highly stained carpets and peeling wallpaper in the room meant it was below the standard...

I stayed in the hotel while on business in Portsmouth. This is a very tired hotel the rooms are basic and need a good painting and updating the bathroom was small and growing in places again in need of attention and the smell is not good along with the carpets throughout the upper floors. I would rather stay in a...

I have staid for 3 nights at the hotel. It is a nice, old and full of atmosphere hotel. The hotel is not a regular hotel. It has a club atmosphere. If you like to read a book, you can seat at the library that has a lot of Maritime elements. It is close to the center and the shopping...
