After a very bad experience at a nearby chain, especially for a lone woman traveler, this hotel was recommended to me and I must say I was most impressed. The room was decorated to a high standard, clean and had every amenity that a traveler could require. All in all a very good hotel by only minor complaint was related to the breakfast, bacon was slightly overcooked and the sausage was of a poor quality, Other than that I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel. Right on water front. Chose best room with large bathroom and free standing bath. Views of The Victory, railway and bus stations and ferry to isle of wight. Very well equipped room. Bathroom huge but no shelf space and no bath caddy, so looks nice but not practical. Only down side of our stay was that we didn't realise there wasn't a restaurant. So no evening food just breakfast.

Very pleasant and welcoming hotel, staff members David and Jeremy were very helpful and obliging. Jeremy got up very early to provide a breakfast for us prior to departing for our ferry trip despite it being an hour before official breakfast time. The bed was very comfortable and the room a delight overlooking the harbour. Overall a very comfortable night was spent here and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again during another trip to Portsmouth. Recommended.

We have visited 'boutique' hotels in the past in various parts over Europe. Usually boutique means more luxurious and specialised but not in this case. The best description for this 'hotel' is a hybrid of a bed and breakfast and a small hotel with cheap furniture and fittings. The drawers in the bedroom would fall out if you put anything in them and pulled the drawer out. The cleaning was generally good but a little attention to detail is required. The initial impression therefore wasn't the best but that's where the negatives end. The staff here are fantastic and can't do enough for you. I liked the little things like the voice in the lift was a locals voice. I like the fact that they only had a limited choice for cooked breakfast which meant that the food was excellent because they didn't overstretch themselves as this really is a small place. This place was 'homely'. When we go back to Portsmouth I would definitely go back here. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Really enjoyed our stay, staff were very friendly and room was perfect for us. The hotel is in a really good spot next to the bus and train station and very close to the navel museum. would definitely stay again.
