We enjoyed a 2 night stay here. Everywhere in the hotel is spotlessly clean. The rooms have everything you need, including tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was also very good, a few different cooked options available along with cereal, fruit and yoghurt. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is currently undergoing some refurbishment but this did not affect our stay. They are doing a great job at balancing modernization along with keeping some of the historic character of the building.
We stayed here in September ( 5 nights) and decided to make a return visit (3 nights). The staff are always very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting the historic naval dockyard. I am sure we will return next spring.
Booked here last minute for 2 nights over half term as other hotels we looked at were full. Was in fact better located for Old Dockyard and all attractions we wanted to visit. Free parking is a bonus. All staff were friendly, rooms were basic but clean and breakfast was good. Still some alterations being done but nothing that had any negative impact on our stay. Would definitely stay here again if re visit.
Perfect location for gun wharf shopping complex and historical dockyard, with the front of hotel over looking sea and attractions. Free parking to side of hotel which is always a bonus and so convenient, We had a small double at rear of hotel, which was spotless, bed was little firm for us, but that’s personal choice. We booked half board, which consisted of full English breakfast and the usual cereals, toast etc. And evening meal which was superb, not a huge choice but what was on the menu was delicious, with a special mention of the in house ice cream, best ice cream that I have ever tasted absolutely fabulous. Also has nice bar and lounge for evening cocktails , will definitely be booking again. Ps staff were brilliant to.
Spent a weekend at the Keppel's Head hotel, after seeing the tariffs other standard hotel chains were charging, we took a chance on this little independent as it seemed to offer good value. We had a large family room which was clean, had comfy beds and a good size ensuite. The furniture and layout was a little idiosyncratic but what the room lacked in style, the hotel made up for with excellent service and a real gem of a restaurant. The evening meal at The Captain's Table cost £20 for 3 courses! We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of ingredients and the standard of cooking was amazing, given the price. The dining room is the best feature of the hotel, well worth visiting in it's own right. Located on The Hard, right opposite the train station and passenger ferry port the Keppel's Head is well placed for visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quay. …
