Struggling to find a restaurant as we'd not booked, The Wellington came up in a google search and the menu looked really yummy. Was surprised (and a tad worried) that it was so empty when we arrived, but I expect most people were heading for Gun Wharf as we had been intending. We were not disappointed! The decor was beautiful and quirky, we received a warm welcome from the Manager, and the food was as delicious as it sounded. Portions were generous, I had the pork belly (lovely crackling!) which came with lots of lovely fresh veg, and my partner had the burger which he raved about, so great value all round. In addition to all the plus points mentioned already, it's in such a lovely location, we will use The Wellington for our next overnight stay in Pompey.
Lovely little pub & hotel, stayed for a few nights and were well looked after, Harry was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, friendly and welcoming all around. The food was great at breakfast and the bar is well stocked for an evening drink.
Stayed to extend our stay down south. The man who checked us in was friendly and attentive. Clean rooms. We decided to get some food and bring it back to our room, which resulted in us losing our parking space 🙈 Saturday night! But we were able to park back on the car park which is next door to the hotel. The bed was a little rickety. We could also hear the other people come back in the night and one tried to get into our room by accident! We laughed it off as we've all been there! One moan was that it was a little bit warm in the room and no decaf coffee. But a lovely stay.
We went to the Wellington with some friends a few weeks ago We all had roast dinner which was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent and all waiting staff very polite We will definitely be returning
Came here with my Dad for a lunch. Haven't been for a few years. But had enjoyed previous visits. Dad had fish and chips, I had the bangers and mash. Excellent food and equally good service. Waiter was polite, charming and not overbearing but still gave attentive service to our table. Interior is classic old Portsmouth with an individual twist. Mid size selection of drinks on draught but a very good selection. Including a local brewery beer by Irving and a couple of Camden beers on tap. Only thing that let it down on this visit was the toilets. Could do with some tic in the cleaning. Plus, the toilet brush needs replacing ASAP. But, overall, a very pleasant visit.
