Stayed here for two nights. I have a habit of checking the bottom sheet of a hotel bed after a bad experience many years ago. I was glad I did. This one was stained. I asked at Reception for a clean one which I was immediately given. Changed it myself (Covid times?) The 'sofa' had food crumbs on it from the previous occupants and there was human hair that wasn't ours. Overall the room was not as clean as it should have been. Disappointing.
What a great hotel ! We were attending a festival in Southampton and wanted a hotel for one night. I always use Tripadvisor as my bible and if there are multiple good or bad reviews, that will definitely influence my decision on where I book. Although there were some very good reviews of Cumberland Place, they didn't do it justice. The staff were all super friendly. The lobby, our room, restaurant and public areas were spotlessly clean. We stayed in room 420 on the 4th floor. Our room had aircon and the bathroom suite looked brand new. Tea and coffee were provided in the room and the room itself was very spacious. It was super quiet and the lifts were very quick. We had already pre-paid for breakfast and we booked a table the day before which they confirmed when we checked in. Breakfast was freshly cooked and we had fresh eggs made for us. The cereal and juice station was spotless and well stocked and dairy free milk was available. Lots of fresh bread, croissants, bagels, pancakes and fresh fruit. The fresh bean coffee machine was superb. We saw staff checking temperature of the cooked food and also the juices which was very reassuring. The staff were quietly carrying out their tasks and the restaurant was spotless. This hotel is opposite Watts park and we stayed on a Sunday so was lovely and quiet. It was just a 5/10 minute slow walk to the bustling centre. The Grosvenor Square car park is located just behind the hotel and cost us £4.50 for 24 hour stay which was brilliant. The car park is locked from midnight until 5.30am so you have added peace of mind your vehicle is secure if you are staying overnight. The hotel is in a great location and was easy to find. There are also a couple of vending machines if you want water or soft drinks and snacks which you can use cash or card. This will defo be our go to hotel when visiting Southampton in the future. Thanks Premier Inn at Cumberland Place…
If this was my first premier inn it would be my last…. I have stayed at many Premier Inns all over the UK but this was the worst I have seen….. No offer of dinner or breakfast…. Dirty bathroom… Room could have done with a good clean… I bought this to the attention of the staff… Wasting my time… no toilet tissue…. Answer …. Pack of toilet tissue left outside the door but room never re cleaned….l
Had a really good stay. The hotel was clean and quiet, and the bed was really comfortable. The curtains also made the room dark, which is important to me. The only thing was that the water in the shower wasn’t very warm. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Theatre trip and overnight stay. Well staffed, quick check in. Room was really nice, clean and spacious. Location is great for the mayflower theatre a few minutes walk away. In the other direction there's a lovely spot for nights out. After theatre about 30 people descended on the bar and additional staff quickly appeared to serve us all quickly. Fabulous value for money so rebooking for my next theatre trip.
