So, myself and my husband had booked to stay in the hotel on Friday night (3rd September) due to having a wedding in the area on Saturday and we wanted to get ready at a leisurely pace. Friday evening we booked a local restaurant so wanted to get ready, however, there was no hot water! Phone call to reception stated that they would get someone to check the boilers. We had cold showers and headed out. On the way out we checked at reception and they said that they had maintenance on their way to fix the issue! On return we had hot water so hoped the issue had been fixed. In the morning we got up early and that was when we realised that there was no water at all. We had no water coming from the tap, couldn't flush the toilet etc. Phoned through to reception who said the issue was being sorted but panic started to set in and we were both worried that the issue would not be fixed in time to check out at 11. We made the decision to head home (at 7am) so that we could get ready for the wedding we were attending as we did not want to be in even more of a panic. Spoke to reception and explained the issues we had been having and asked to a refund. They agreed to a 50% refund and eventually refunded the breakfast payment as we were not eating (this did take some negotiation however). This is a basic requirement and totally disgusting that we did not have any water at all, especially with COVID being so high on the agenda and handwashing etc. We also asked about payment for the car park which is £7.00 for 24 hours, so really reasonable. We were asked for our car registration for the 2nd time as the computers were down and we paid for parking, however, I am not 100% convinced that the post-it that the Reg was written on will actually get input on the system! We did manage to get home, get ready for the wedding and back to Southampton but was stressful.

After a 4 hour drive we checked in to this beautiful hotel. We where in a rush to go out for the evening so it was a quick shower and out. We soon discovered we had no hot water. We called down to reception and they said they would get maintenance guy on to it. After an hour we went down to reception and they told us they where having issues but it would be sorted by the time we returned later in the evening. When we arrived back there was still no hot water. In the morning we called down to reception again but they did not know what was going on. They eventually moved us to another room and low and behold there was no hot water again. I spoke to maintenance guy and he said it was unlikely the water would be restored any time soon. We spoke to deputy manager and asked for a full refund for the previous night and the next night and checked out. There was other people complaining about having no water and the staff where still booking people in and not telling them. I understand it was one of these things and out of their control but I also believe it was handled very badly. Very poor performance from southampton’s top hotel.

I have stayed here a few times over the years and am booked again soon but will not book again after this next time. Twice in the last couple of years we have had to fight for a refund for rooms we have had to cancel and both times we were told the money should be back in our accounts within 14 days, unfortunately this has not happened and we have contacted our credit card to get our money back which they have done which has taken time. This is a terrible situation for a big company and personally they do not deserve to be in business and I am surprised that Marco Pierre White allows his name to be associated with Leonardos. The contact centre staff have no customer care and I have messaged their Facebook page and called Southampton direct with no reply.

First of all, check in took 20 minutes. There was only one receptionist as the other was dealing with a complaint (we now know why). Secondly, we chose to stay at this hotel due to the advertised spa facilities. Upon check in, we asked for directions to the spa, to be told it was closed for maintenance. The welcome letter given to us with the room keys also advertises the spa area, not mentioning the closure. Never mind, we go to the bar for a drink instead. Perfectly fine. Upon going back to the room to get ready for dinner, we can’t get any hot water. So we go downstairs to speak to reception who tell us they are already aware. They possibly could have mentioned it! Especially as by the sounds of it, there’s been an issue for a while. So a cold shower & hair wash it was. The room itself was ok, nothing special. We did have to open the windows & air it as somebody had not long ago (assuming the cleaner?) used the facilities in our room, leaving behind an impressive emptied bowels aroma. Again, not something you expect when you open the door to your freshly cleaned hotel room. Dinner was mediocre. We were part of a group booking, the waitress tried to clear my plate while I was in the middle of my main course. I’d stopped eating momentarily to have a sip of drink. The trio of puddings was just shop bought stuff, pre plated to save time I’m guessing, I’ve never had refrigerated Christmas pudding & custard before. Nothing amazing. Breakfast was fine. Just a hotel buffet type with a choice of cooked & continental food. The staff didn’t explain it was all self service, and our table didn’t have cups & things on so we spent a while to-ing & fro-ing getting all the bits we needed before we could actually go & get the breakfast. The lifts had broken down, leaving just one available but that didn’t bother us as were only on the 2nd floor, so used the stairs. Upon check out we requested a partial refund for the lack of hot water which we were granted, but had we not asked I feel they would have just charged standard rate. It certainly wasn’t offered and we didn’t receive an apology.

Good Afternoon HairyMairy2906, Thank you for staying at Leonardo Royal Hotel Southampton Grand Harbour and for leaving a review. We are very sorry to read that some aspects of the service you received didn't meet your expectations. At the time of writing, we are working with some temporary challenges around consistent staffing and supply chain issues which have come up due to the ongoing pandemic which means that on some occasions we haven't been able to meet our traditionally high standards and we do apologise that this has affected your stay. We sincerely hope you'll be able to return shortly and enjoy an experience much closer to the ones that our guests have always been able to rely on. We are working with our hotel teams and external partners to ensure that this is resolved as soon as possible and we hope that we can welcome you back to Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels in the near future, and we'll be able to start to improve your journey as a customer. Kind Regards Wendy Customer Experience Team

Your prices , food, tooooo expensive. All staying guests MUST receive a % 15 discount..Please announce that the steak house is ONLY open on a Friday/Sat. This is a Great Hotel for a cruise stay. The cruise package is just great, and price is bordering on expensive, but it is a MUST.
