This is an ex RAF base and as such it is a huge area. We had a motor home for the weekend and the hard standing is part of the old taxi ways. The campsite was quiet, mostly had caravans and motor homes, although would also be good for tents as there is a lot of flat grass spaces with...

What a dreadful place. Caravans and tents randomly strewn all around the concrete runways throughout the site. If you like caravan club quality sites then steer clear. This is more like a military base camp than a holiday location.

Lovely clean campsite. The staff go out of their way to make your experience positive. The fact it used to be an airfield adds to its charm. We will definitely be returning. Horses and ponies everywhere! The New Forest is a magical place to explore.

We have just returned from our most recent stay at Holmsley and I cannot praise this site enough. Fantastic value for money, suitable for both campers and caravanners (I've stayed as both!) The facilities are clean and tidy and we'll appointed throughout the site. There is plenty of space with a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches with or without...

For our first every camping trip this was a perfect place to go to. We didnt want a place with onsite entertainment, we wanted to make our own, and this we got. This campsite has friendly staff and a lovely little shop for any essentials you may have forgotten. Ideal location in the New Forest surrounded by beautiful New Forest...

If you are looking for the perfection of caravan club parks then this might not be for you, it is set on an old WW2 air base and some of it remains. The pitches are adequate, and there are plenty of showers and toilets, all very clean. We arrived late in the dark, and the staff was very helpful and...

We stayed at this site last June and were very impressed so decided to choose it for our last weekend camp of the season. This is now our favorite site. The staff on reception are always friendly and helpful. The facilities are great considering your out in the middle of the new forest and many of the surrounding sites have...

I have stayed on many camp sites but this one is, well, a bit odd. On one side it's a very quiet and peaceful place. On the other its rough and chaotic. The nice part is out on the edges amongst the trees. There is a lot of wild life here and just from our caravan window we saw deer...

Holmsley campsite staff are really friendly and helpful. The shop is well stocked. We went camping 23rd of September 2016-26th September 2016 and had a really good time. The reptile place along the A35 isn't worth a visit although it is free but it's not a reptile place really it's more animals you will find in the garden. The cat...

We arrived here a day late after going to the wrong campsite (I know, terrible right, it was late ok) haha we were rudely kicked out of the snotty caravan site up the road for "illegally squatting" at 3am however we explained this to the guys at Holmsley and they found it hilarious, we were given a free night's camping...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Holmsley is a campsite steeped in history. Occupying part of what used to be Holmsley Airfield in the Second World War, it is one of 12 wartime airfields and Advanced Landing Grounds in the New Forest. Indeed, the aircraft hard standings and taxiways are now the campsite roads and parking spots! Facilities Premium pitches Tents Touring caravans Motorhomes Trailer tents Jumbo tent pitches Grassy pitches Grass pitch with electric hook up Hardstanding pitch Hardstanding pitch with electric hook up Seasonal pitches Unsheltered site Toilets Showers Washbasins Electric razor sockets Separate disabled facilities Family shower room Chemical toilet disposal Drinking water taps Motorhome service pointstop off Dishwashing facilities Laundry Ice pack freezing facility Gas cylinders Battery charging facility Shop Childrens play area Takeaway Pets welcome The campsite is close to the rural villages of Burley and Bransgore, with shops including a bakery, chemist, and chip shop. The site is predominantly grass, meaning there is a lot of space for the children to play. It also offers direct access to forest walks and safe cycling tracks; ideal for exploring the local flora and fauna with the whole family. Onsite there is a fully equipped shop that sells a wide range of groceries, camping essentials and games to ensure that your holiday runs as smoothly as possible. There is also an excellent take away; perfect after a busy day exploring the forest and when you want to put your feet up in your tent and relax. Opening time will vary throughout the season. Next to the site there is a large heathland which is fantastic for a spot of nature watching. Free-roaming ponies, cattle and deer are frequent visitors, and you might see squirrels, badgers and foxes if you are lucky. New Forest woodlands are thought by the locals to be at their very best in the autumn, during the annual Pannage season. At this time the forest turns crimson and gold and echoes to the sound of rutting deer. Holmsley is close to several stunning beaches including Barton on Sea, with Bournemouth and Poole just a drive away. Premium pitches are available onsite, and there are also toilets, showers and a launderette available. Please remember to bring your rock pegs for this site. Due to the low level of lighting campers must pitch up before dark. Pitch types at Holmsley There are 600 pitches at Holmsley, made up of standard and premium pitch types. This campsite also have space to take RV units. ... more   less
