We popped in here late on a Sunday afternoon needing a meal before a concert but not sure if food would be available . We were not disappointed. Great attentive service and a fantastic meal in the bar . It was quite quiet before the evening rush but this place has such a lovely atmosphere and the staff couldn't have...

hotel overall was good but for two irritating issues. (1) on returning to the bedroom after the first night it was much as we had left it that morning, bedclothes towels etc were in the same place. if any service had been provided it was minimal. (2) the w.c. pan in our room (named "street") was cited directly in front...

Stayed here for one night, lovely welcome from hotel staff. The bar was outstanding and had a log fire burning which added to the great atmosphere. Our room was beautiful, tea, coffee making facilities, a beautiful bathroom and bedroom, the beds were extremely comfortable. Lunch in the bar was delicious, as well as breakfast which offered an extensive menu, along...

A wonderful and cosy pub with a wide variety of decor, very friendly staff, absolutely scrumptious food such as the Eggs Benedict and Gnocchi entree, delightful room, a killer bathtub, nicely stocked mini fridge.

The hotel staff is overwhelmed by trying to be a hotel/restaurant/pub. They cannot handle simple tasks and were not ready to receive our group. They did not read the reservation and were even going to give me a lesser room, as well as not having the high tea I ordered. "if you want, you can go into the bar and...

Food on time and hot very enjoyable. Also a busy pub which had a good atmosphere The private room was very nice and the privacy was good. The staff were very adaptable. A worth while place to visit. A traditional old fashioned public house with space to sit also a restaurant area to the rear.

This pub has great character with interesting and quirky decoration. Location could not be better for Winchester sightseeing. Breakfast was excellent. Best of all was the extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Great pub with excellent staff. Food very good and very reasonable. Beers well kept. Great location and real sense of history. But rooms pricey and, whilst characterful like the rest of the pub, ours was more shabby than shabby chic - peeling paint in the bathroom, black mould in the grout, bathroom radiator not working. We would have asked to...

Nice old style hotel with good service. Close to cathedral and not that far from station. The pub and restaurant are excellent and have a friendly atmosphere. I would certainly recommend staying here if you visit the lovely town of Winchester.
