Hotel is fine and a great location. Rooms ok but cold. Think this would be fine normally but temperatures just dropped. Restaurant was really poor. Had a large wedding so we felt unattended. Took ages for the food to come and it was a real disappointment. Complained and manager dealt with the complaint. All good. Went to breakfast waited 45 mins again for any thing - they were just too busy. Then the food came and cold. Gave up at this point. Checked out. Only to find out our friends complained and got money off. We were not offered a thing. Went back to complain again. Told you should have complained more. Like really ! We did not go away to complain or get money off think they missed the point. My view is we were all on the same booking so why not offer this to all instead of he who shouted the loudest. I was more annoyed at this then the poor food So good location Nice staff Just badly managed. Too busy with a wedding not enough staff…
This beautiful hotel has been restored to a wonderful standard. Very clean, new bathroom fittings, 32 inch LG TV. USB chargers built into wall. Wonderful reception staff. Silent room 228 was a lovely sleep. Will definitely return. The electric heater was enough, on a cold autumn night.
Good nights sleep on a good mattress Only had breakfast, which was good, so cannot comment further on what was on offer in the restaurants but felt relaxed in the Brasserie Good location for shopping and eating out Staff very helpful and friendly Would return
We visited with family today for a birthday celebration. The Sunday roast was delicious and cooked to perfection, the manager of the restaurant was welcoming and attentive throughout the meal, all staff were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended!
Just returned from a meal with friends at The Hereford restaurant in the Green Dragon. Lovely refurbished room with excellent decor. Loved that. Average service. Good drinks. Considering the price the food was little more than average. Starters were bland and amateurish. Steaks were excellent pieces but undercooked and under-seasoned. Chips were good, sauce tasted as if it came from a packet. Grilled tomatoes really should have the green eye removed. Desserts underwhelming; Tarte Tatin thin-lipped and mean, cheeses tasty but no more interesting than from a supermarket. If we’d paid half this I’d be happy, at the thick end of £60 per head I’m disappointed. Which is a shame as the place looks fab. Might return for Afternoon Tea - if someone else is paying. I’d try a room though.
