We stayed two nights there midweek - two ladies in two single rooms. They upgraded one room, which was nice, but we ended up in two opposite parts of the house. The little box for the code on the front door to the rooms in the back (Woodmill Rooms?) is so low, that my friend almost had to kneel down,...

Cannot fault this hotel. The staff are helpful and pleasant. We were provided with a ground floor room as requested and it was extremely comfortable with a very large super king sized bed and an excellent shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked with lovely ingredients. Within a short walk of Canterbury Cathedral and all the amenities of the City. All of...

This is a lovely hotel based in a very central location in Canterbury. It's a 13th Century building, and we had a nice room with a 4-poster bed. There's a car park around the back. And a very good breakfast was included for our £149. But... being central, it was really busy on a Saturday night till incredibly late. And...

On arrival by car I had difficulty in locating the hotel car park and drove around in circles for some time. I eventually parked in a public car park and then walked to the hotel to ask for directions to their car park, which is via a very narrow entrance in a side street. The place was packed to overflowing...

Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff, really well located in relation to shops, restaurants and the cathedral. Fabulous breakfast, plenty of choice. Lovely clean room, very quiet. Nice atmosphere in the bar in the evening.

Mum and I stayed overnight here on Monday. Was very impressed. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. David was lovely and recommended a great restaurant nearby. We stayed in the old windmill room, which was perfect for us. A little set back from the main road, so was very quiet. Breakfast very good. Couldn't fault our time there. Would definitely...

Although our room (#2) was very small, we had a pleasant stay. The bathroom was pretty large and the floorboards made funny sounds. Very 'authentic'. The bar has a nice atmosphere during the evening/night. Good breakfast with many choices, served by a kind staff. Good parking facilities in the courtyard.

What can I say... Fantastic location, 30+ free parking spaces for visitors, lovely staff and of course, great tasting cocktails. We stayed over on a Sunday evening so didn't expect many visitors but were pleasantly surprised, a busy hotel = a good hotel. We were shown to our room by a member of staff (which is rare). They'd gone the...

Thinking of taking afternoon tea at the Falstaff? Don't and choose somewhere else. I visited the Falstaff for the first time for afternoon tea with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. The service we received was dreadful. You'd get better at your local greasy spoon! We ordered a bottle of champagne to start. It took 20 minutes to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just metres from Canterbury's medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free WiFi and free parking, 2 minutes' walk from the city centre. The Falstaff still retains many original features, including oak beams and an open log fire. Each room has a TV for guests to use, and facilities for making tea and coffee. The hotel offers a cooked to order full English breakfast as well as self service buffet option. The bar offers a range of wines and variety of exclusive cocktails. Canterbury West Rail Station is a 3-minute walk from the building. The city's spectacular Norman cathedral can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot. ... more   less
