We stayed here for a weekend away. The location is excellent and the staff could not be more helpful. They always greeted you with a smile, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are clean. Breakfast is good value. The hotel is obviously very busy and due to that it is looking a bit tired. Would definitely benefit from a refurb in places. Definitely a good place to stay.
I booked Premier Inn Canterbury City Centre two months in advance of a night out with my best friend. We got the room with a breakfast meal deal for just £51 total - absolute bargain. Despite being located at a very busy road junction, once inside the hotel it was very quiet. The lady on reception was very friendly and explained about the breakfast set up. Our room 221 was on the second floor and faced over a car park for the nearby flats - this was great as we heard no external noise at all. The room was very clean, with a powerful hot shower and tea / coffee facilities as well as a hairdryer and plenty of hanging space. The windows don’t open in the hotel so it was good to have air conditioning which was easy to operate. The bed (and sofa bed) were very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our buffet breakfast which had a good selection of hot and cold items - the pastries and sausages especially were fantastic! We loved the location of this hotel - within a 3 minute walk we were on Canterbury’s high street, with a huge number of bars and restaurants to offer. There is a Tesco Express underneath the hotel and a Waitrose across the road. Please note the hotel doesn’t have a car but is easy access to public transport and there are many car parks in Canterbury (albeit very expensive). I’d definitely stay here again!…
My room smelt of very strong mould/damp, it was disgusting. Air freshener was provided by reception team, as no other rooms available but this made no difference. I woke up with a terrible headache and sneezing. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone else. Staff member said it could be the air-con, if that’s the case breathing that in is not good it can make you unwell. I’ve put in a complaint and requested a refund.
Got this comfy standard room. However the hotel doesn’t come with onsite car park which was clearly mentioned on their website. If you want to see the cathedral from your windows ask to get the top floor rooms
There are a lot of pluses for this hotel which is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Canterbury and is right next to a bus stop. That suited me as I use public transport but means I can't give an opinion on the availability of parking. The price for the room was very good and I don't think you would get better value anywhere else in Canterbury. The room was clean and basic and I liked the fact that the en-suite had a lovely deep bath as well as a shower. The bed was very comfortable - I would have liked to have brought it home with me!! I liked the fact that hospitality tray top ups were out on display in reception and that you could have your evening meal brought to the room if you wanted, If you do need anything there is a Tesco Express right next door to the hotel. I had the Continental Breakfast which was only £7.50 and there was a very good choice of items. Staff are helpful but did seemed a bit rushed. I was in Room 401 which had lovely views of the Cathedral which was lit up at night. On the minus side booking was a long drawn out process. Initially I rang the hotel to be told that they couldn't book me in over the phone! I rang the number they gave me and they said they could book me in but only at the dearest of three rates available! So, despite not being very computer literate I did manage to book the room. I know most people these days are quite au fait with online booking systems but this really did, I feel, discriminate against those who are not. I would definitely stay here again.…
Excellent location but be aware of parking limitations. A small number of payable spaces on site, larger car parks near by but still quite full. Otherwise, amazingly quiet for city centre location, brilliant reception staff (Emma), consistent room standards, great bed and beautiful city to visit. My only reason for knocking off one star is that the request for room cleaning during the mid point of the stay was very minimally completed, ie no cleaning or vacuuming done.
This hotel was very disappointing. Staff wouldn't help my foreign partner pay to check in early (despite me calling the night before and pre warning them, and he speaks English, just nervous) But we're friendly to me. Fire alarm was pulled by an idiot saturday night but the alarm couldn't be turned off, then it went off again Monday. Key cards stopped working after 12pm even with our 2pm late check out so staff have to let you in and out the floor and room. The restaurant was lovely and staff would get you extra items. Good location. No parking Sadly I just wasn't impressed.
Usual comfortable bed and peaceful. Good night's sleep. Less than ten minutes from town centre. There is a small chargeable car park £8 for 24 hours side of main building but if full there are public car parks within 5/10 minutes walk.
at first contact checking in your staff was very very slow and clearly had very little idea of what to do I booked two rooms he checked me in your reference BCLR185910 and my daughter who had made a separate room booking but she was not with me at that time so when she came to check in she could not. at around 0100 hours in the morning the fire alarm went off which is as it should HOWEVER THIS WAS A FAULT AS IT STOPPED FOR A MINUTE OR SO THEN CONTINUED TO GO OFF EVERY MINUTE OR SO TILL ABOUT 0125 HOURS AS IF IT WAS A FIRE IT WOULD HAVE CONTINUALLY SOUNDED I LOOKED AT YOUR ROOM INSTRUCTIONS THERE ARE NO DETAILS REGARDING FIRE DRILL NO EMERGENCEY CONTACT NUMBER THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN THERE WAS NO PUBLIC ADDRESS ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FIRE DRILL A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE FOR GUESTS.I spoke to your duty manager in the morning Rachael who confirmed it was a fault stating that the staff could not shut it off for some time as it was a fault which I UNDERSTAND FAULTS HAPPEN however the total lack of training and the way it was dealt with is of grave concern she also stated she could do nothing to compensate my stay which again is a very poor attitude to have towards customers ITS NOT GOING TO MAKE THEM WANT TO STAY AT A PREMIER INN AGAIN AND ON THAT BASSIS I WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE STAYING IN A PREMIER INN AGAIN…
Good premier inn, conveniently located. Shame no car park and difficult to set down in taxi on junction. Signs said undergoing refurbishment but saw no evidence of noise or dust. Rooms dated by PI standards. Lovely staff
