Hotel is located a short walk to the cathedral and other sites. Ruins of Canterbury castle are across the street from the hitel. The room was small but well equipped. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean.

Stayed here one night. Good location for visiting the cathedral and city centre, but a noisy road nearby throughout the night. Room was clean but small. Staff polite and breakfast excellent. The fixtures and fittings seemed rather faded

We booked a family room and on arrival, to our dismay, were directed away from the main building to what appeared to be a large garden shed off the (free) carpark. In fact this was a splendidly appointed, spacious room with everything that we could have asked for (even a TV even in the bathroom!!).

The Castle House is a really nice small hotel, friendly and conveniently located with free car parking on site. The staff had positive attitudes and made a real effort to provide good service. There is no fault to find here; you can see what it is and it does what it sets out to do very well. Location: across the...

Couldn't really fault the Castle House. Location is just off the ring road and very close to the city centre. Very useful parking. Great staff, very nice breakfast and a chance to meet the chef. Good sized room and good facilities. Clean and excellent unobtrusive room service with lots of supplies of drinks & toiletries. Nice bar. The only tiny...

We enjoyed our stay at the Castle House. The cooked breakfast was delicious! The hotel is about 15-20mins walk from Canterbury West Station & a 10min walk to the Cathedral. I like the fact that there were black out curtains & the windows were double paned as I got a great night's sleep.

Good points: Perfectly pleasant small hotel, our room, linen and ensuite were spotlessly clean, breakfast was efficiently served and well prepared. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Parking on site and 5 mins walk to the city centre. Downside: - Severe shortage of power points in the room meant that charging phones was a problem Also, we'd booked through Expedia...

One of the best hotels I have stayed in Canterbury. Hospitable and comfortable. Friendly staff simply adds to your fine stay. I really like the location; near the city centre. The room is stayed was decent and had a very nice view of the little town Canterbury.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Castle House Hotel Castle House Hotel is built astride the ancient city walls of Canterbury and standing in the shadow of Henry II's Great Keep itself - reputedly the third largest in the Kingdom . This unique building is your choice for a bed and breakfast experience, steeped in history. Castle House Hotel is an architectural gem and a scheduled ancient monument. The main house was built in the 1730s, incorporating part of the Norman city walls, the Roman Worthgate, and the only visible remaining section of the original city moat, now of course drained of water. Here, surrounded by Georgian opulence and decoration of the highest standard, you are just a few minutes' short walk from the whole of the mediaeval city: the magnificent Cathedral; the maze of winding streets and the romantic ruins of the Castle and city walls... Book your room at Castle House Hotel and history and convenience will combine to make your stay both memorable and enjoyable. All our rooms have been decorated to the highest standards, benefit from en suite or private facilities, and provide you with every modern comfort from contemporary flat screen digital TV to high speed wireless broadband at no extra cost. ... more   less
