We were delighted to have found this hotel. The location is truly outstanding, waking up to the beautiful cathedral view from the window each morning was a delight. The breakfast was 5* and the staff were friendly and always happy to help. Returning to the lodge after our evening meal always felt very special. The rooms were clean and spacious. Highly recommend!

Perfect location within the cathedral close, entry by doorbell through ancient door in medieval gate in the evening. The lodge is a modern conference and hotel centre, stylishly reflecting, without mimicking the cathedral. Rooms are about the best designed I have stayed in (and I travel a lot for work and pleasure): scandinavian cool, functional without being cold. If you like trendily dark rooms with unnecessary soft furnishing everywhere this isn't for you! Staff couldn't be faulted, they are genuinely personable, not just trained in hospitality. Breakfst was excellent with good choice, and alert service. TIP The daytime entrance is disguised; it's through the cathedral visitor centre doors.

We had a four night stay here and what an absolute delight it was. A little difficult to find the entrance but that was our fault as we hadn't read the very clear instructions provided. The check-in was quick and easy and all the staff were amazing. I enjoyed our chats of an evening with the night porter Tom. Well done all the staff. The room was fresh, clean and the view of the cathedral wonderful. We had everything we needed. The breakfast was brilliant. Freshly cooked, brilliant service and good portions. The Cathedral constables were wonderful and always very helpful. We loved our stay here and would most certainly stay again. Well done and thank you to all the team that made our stay so wonderful. Just check you make sure you read the arrival instructions carefully.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind comments about your stay with us. You are quite correct to advise reading our arrival instructions prior to setting off. We can be a little difficult to find due to Cathedral retaining the nature of its walled monastic Precincts. For future guests reading our reviews, please do take time to review our specific directions that accompany your bedroom reservation. Kind regards Richard Moppett General Manager

This is a great place to stay. Breakfast is the best - and such a good location. Walls are a bit thin - sorry if I snored too much. Yes the rooms are small - but I do think other reviewers who proclaim to have travelled the world in luxury hotels haven’t lived. I will be back.
