Please do not go to the bistro for a meal. Perhaps as there were 8 of us they were unable to cope....the service was slow. The courgette fritters were the only saving dish.. Two starters were inedible. All the main meals were over cooked and dry we sent three back.We assume all our main meals had sat under the heater for...

Dear Shelley H I'm sorry you were disappointed with your lunch. We are proud of the service we deliver and the team actively try to ensure any concerns or mistakes are addressed at the time. In this instance we offered to replace the meals you were dissatisfied with, removing the service charge and applying a sizeable discount to your bill....

We booked this hotel as I'd heard good things about this group and thought we'd treat ourselves whilst visiting relatives for Easter. Also loved that we could take our dog so win win. For £140 (one night stay) I was expecting more for the room. The room was TINY! So small in fact that the wardrobe door couldn't open fully...

Dear TheAlbanyPub, Thank you for your review. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed your stay overall. The size of our Standard Room is admittedly small - we do try to make this as clear as possible via the website and through the reservations team. It is unfortunately the result of the age of the building and the layout that...

Situated centrally in the town, du Vin is a heritage building which is well maintained offering a choice of areas to relax. When visiting or staying in any du Vin there is a consistency in surroundings and menu, where you can either sit and relax with a bottle of wine or afternoon tea. At Tunbridge, we had a newly refurbished...

The rooms are tired and tiny. Breakfast took so long we had to cancel plans and tell staff we would be checking out late. 15 mins to order (with not even a cup of tea) water that never came, no champagne for the birthday girl and a cooked breakfast that took 45 minutes.

Just stayed at the hotel for a week, 3 of us in 2 rooms. Many years ago I stayed there many, many times. Over the years the service and food has been very up and down. This time although the rooms are always clean, they are reasonably soulless, for a week long stay there is nowhere near enough storage space....

Dear 28Suzie Thank you for your review. We are in the process of increasing the size of the Reception Team, hopefully so that by the time your next stay comes around you have no waits at all. We will certainly take on board what you have said, and I hope to have the opportunity of meeting you in person on...

We had the back of the lounge area just for ourselves (group of 5) which was absolutely lovely: 2 large sofas and 2 confy armchairs. Service was excellent but we felt let down by the food. The salmon bagel was very dry and the ham and cheese croissant clearly not fresh and worst of all the cheese was grated cheese...

Stayed for one night here with my partner and 4 month old. The room was nice with a lovely bathroom. It was a bit tight with the cot as this was more or less in the corridor and we had to squeeze past. We ate in the restaurant when our son was asleep (in the pram) which was good as...

Popped in to grab a double espresso. They are a bit slow but the expression is ok. I like the comfy chairs and ambience of this place. Haven't eaten here recently but have been told it's got better. Perhaps next time

Visited here with a friend for afternoon tea on a Thursday afternoon. Had read the mixed reviews on here so went with an open mind. Once again the du vin hotel chain has not failed to impress! Beautiful room ( courvoisier) comfortable bed, luxury linen and fantastic breakfast. All the staff were polite and could not do enough please. The hotel is ideally situated in the town centre and free parking is always a plus. Well done hotel du vin !!!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is set in one of the town's architectural landmarks, a Grade II-listed sandstone mansion built as a private residence in 1762. We have retained its authentic detail carefully, adding our unique touch to the 34 bedrooms with antiques and memorabilia. Guests can enjoy a game of boules, dining on the garden terrace with its wonderful views across Calverley Park, or a wander through the hotel's very own vineyard. BEDROOMS: Housed within this impressive building are 34 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVDs and air conditioning. BISTRO: Open all week, and under the tutelage of head chef Daniel McGarey, Bistro du Vin is at the heart of our hotel, a classic, French styled, elegant and informal setting for lunch, dinner, to meet, celebrate or simply pass the time. Dine on the finest produce the Kent has to offer from local heroes such as herbs and seasonal vegetables from local nursery chef's herbs, meat from Woodlands Farm and fish from Chapman's of Sevenoaks. These are only a handful of the suppliers included within our homegrown & local philosophy. ... more   less
