We have been going to Nab Cottage at least once a year for well over 25 years, so it's a home from home. We are never disappointed - the cottage remains as quirky and homely as ever, and even when rooms are refurbished, the essential character of the place is never compromised. Tim Liz & Co are marvellous hosts, there...

Lovely, quirky, shabby (chic), homely, historic, picturesque, friendly, old fashioned b&b. Great hosts, good food. Eco friendly, Suma soaps and products in bathrooms. Nab cottage is the opposite of a boutique hotel!

This attractive-looking cottage is in a perfect location on Rydal water, the silence only punctuated by nature's sounds and the odd passing vehicle. The staff were pleasant, humorous and helpful with no hint of exasperation with our group of fussy eaters. The levels of hygeine could certainly be improved upon (bathrooms and bedrooms). The decor looks tired and from a...

Nab Cottage B&B, opposite beautiful Rydal Water, has comfortable bohemian interior and warm and friendly owners. Décor homely, history romantic, Wordsworth, Coleridge and de Quincy visited and a gentle atmosphere pervaded all rooms. Grasmere/Ambleside close by. Cottage is literally 10 minutes walk to bus stops, a useful hotel diner and Wordsworth's family home Rydal Mount. Landlady has produced her own...

Nab Cottage provides wonderful views, a great nights sleep, immediate access to some wonderful walks, and a great breakfast to prepare you for it all. Tim and Liz were excellent hosts, and their stance on locally sourced, fresh and organic produce adds to the character and quality of the stay.

Just had two nights at nab cottage as a little retreat away from day to day life. Tim and liz and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had all I needed to relax. The energy in the house is amazing and loved room 7 where I stayed. I was the only guest so it was amazingly quiet and...

Nab Cottage certainly has character and is good value for the area. It's in a great location for exploring the Lake District and we appreciated being out of the busier towns. We were warmly greeted and loved our room which had a window seat and looked out over Rydal Water. The ensuite bathroom was quite adequate with a good shower....

Nab Cottage and it's delightful owners Tim and Liz are true gems. Our two night stay was comfortable and charming, and the cottage history a rare bonus. It is not often one gets quirkiness and perfection combined, but Tim and Liz manage to pull it off with superb grace. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and the rooms cosy and...

“Whilst in a beautiful location, the cottage is on a road, so rooms at the front will inevitably be noisier than those at the back - but then the rooms at the front have spectacular views of the lake ..... take your choice!”

“Front if the house has views overlooking Rydal water, but traffic from road. Back of the house has views of hillside and sheep and quiet. Some en suite rooms, some shared bathroom.”
