Stopped in for a drink whilst riding round the area..what a stunning spot to while away an hour..very unspoilt with views to die for ..reasonably priced offerings but I'd pay extra to sit an soak in the atmosphere...can be quite awkward to get to if your not used to driving on cumbrias narrow lanes ..

Three of us had a meal and it was probably the worse food I've eaten out. I had meat pie and mash. The pie was dry with hardly any gravy and had an unpleasant flavour and the mash that accompanied it was a block - really bad! For dessert my husband had cheesecake and whilst the cheese cake filling was...

We had an ok meal but the service from the bar staff was awful with a bell to press for service from the lounge bar which took up to 10 to 15 mins to answer. Beer was poorly kept, too cold and the social skills of one member of staff was next zero. Fish was good. Chips a bit over...

Back again after a break. At the end of the Langdale valley with stunning views and walks all around. Peace and quiet. On entering it resembles an old farm house with reception/ office under the stairs. Very friendly staff. ROOM was clean well maintained and nicely decorated with an on suite shower. We had a double four poster bed that...

This hotel is beautifully situated for enjoying good walks. We had arrived later that we planned but this was not a problem and we were warmly welcomed. The cooked breakfasts were very nice. All in all this would be a great hotel for walkers and there is a walkers bar where dogs are allowed. It is certainly a place I...

Ive just had the most amazing weekend at this hotel. Dont visit though if you are expecting a contempory hotel. This is a place for lovers of the great outdoors to be with like minded people. The hotel is dated but the location is out of this world. Ask for room number 8...you wont be dissapointed with the stunning views. The...

Just got back from a 3 night break here, comfortable rooms, friendly & welcoming staff & a nice relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel & bars. Just the place for a perfect walking base with our dogs who were made as welcome as people. Nothing luxurious but warm & comfy with wholesome food & as long as you're not looking for...

Great Langdale is a wonderful location, and the ODG is a gem of a pub that perfectly suits the location. Essentially a walker's hotel and pub, the bar is very basically furnished, and the floor slopes, so watch how you spill your beer! Good (and large) bar meals, and bar staff that can take a bit of effort getting used...

Real fire, real ale, real food and real music on a Wednesday evening what more can you ask for after a day on the hills. Try a midweek walk out of season and not only are the hills not too busy the pub isn't either. Recommend Cumberland sausage, fish and chips, pie of the day. Cracking pint of Jennings Cumberland,...

Called in at the Hikers Bar on a very cold and wet day at the end of February. Glorious roaring fire and a very friendly welcome, even for our very soggy doggy. Well kept ale and exceptionally well priced bar food. Had the chilli jacket, pork pie both served with salads and a huge portion of the most divine sticky...
