Called into the Wateredge Inn for a meal and ordered chicken curry. Was very disappointed with the dish. The long grain rice covered the bottom of the bowl and the curry placed on top was more accurately described as a curry flavoured chicken casserole with...More

Really a great location. Dog friendly but they are only allowed in one area. Only one window in this part has a lake view. Eaten here a few times. Always think it's a bit overpriced so have a drink and go elsewhere. I guess you...More
We dined in the evening and received a good meal, freshly prepared and good value. The layout is a bit weird with some booths and an assortment of tables spread across the room but the atmosphere was good and the restaurant was full. The live...More

There's two ways to get to Ambleside , you can walk up Mclver Lane at the side of the regent hotel opposite Water edge Inn, takes you into lake road where you walk up Into Ambleside, it's a good 10-15 minute stretch, or you can go the most buetiful scenic route across Borrans park, you walk up the road to the park, enter walk round the Roman forte stay to the left of the fort, follow the path round, across the road and follow directions to under loughrigg for a longer walk, a good forty minutes , or head back towards Borrans road and follow that onto the A593, into town. proberly about 30mins.
It's very pleasant around here, right next to the lake. There's plenty to walk to if you're reasonably fit - the local town, where there's plenty of pubs and restaurants, and country walks, lakeside walks and boat trips.
