Stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was out with the main hotel in a small annexe at the back. This was really lovely and had seats outside which we could make use of as the weather was great. Breakfast was...More
We've stayed in the sister hotel twice before but this was our first visit to Lake House - for 4 nights. We were in the main house and had a great room to the front of the property - very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast quality...More
Stayed here for a couple of nights and was really impressed. Narrow driveway and maybe the parking is a bit tight but we didn't have a problem with that at all, and I drive a SUV. We had room 7 and it was massive, loads...More
Lovely quaint hotel with a great view of Lake Windermere and only a short walk to the town of Ambleside.
Only complaints are that staff only there until 9pm and it was absolutely baking hot in our room - like a sauna. We asked for...More

Ambleside is a great base to be in to explore the Lake District, we are central to the town so not far for local amenities, we have parking as well. You can drive to neighbouring towns which aren't too far away such as Coniston, Grasmere and Hawkshead or you can use the public transport such as bus or boat. The larger towns would be Keswick and Bowness on Windermere. There are also lots of pubs in Ambleside centre.
I hope this helps
