Stayed here last week for few nights. It is tucked away very close to the centre of Ambleside by the ghyll and waterwheel - mill opposite, so it's easy to find. If you drive, they will provide a permit for the local car pk about 5 mins walk away. Lovely, friendly couple running it met us at the door and...

We had a 3 night stay here and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Having never been to Ambleside before, we weren't sure which B&B to select, but chose the Waterwheel as it was small, appeared to be tucked away, and was in a quaint old building. Our attic bedroom with a huge ensuite was delightful and comfortable. The...

From the personal greeting to the wave goodbye we found this gem of a place that I would recommend to visitors in Ambleside. The whole place is perfect. Clean beyond belief with lots of little personal touches. The rooms are beautifully and elegantly decorated all with ensuite bathrooms. Soft towels and everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Our...

From station pick up to drop off our stay and hosts couldn't have been better. The Waterwheel is a charming and very homely guesthouse and location-wise is perfect - close to everything Ambleside has to offer, a short walk from Windermere lake and the falls and a short taxi journey to Holbeck Ghyll if you want to treat yourself! Nigel...

We visit the lakes several times a year and have been doing so for over 10 years. Waterwheel is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Lovely room, lovely breakfast and central position. They also provide a car park pass which is brilliant. Other B&Bs that don't have their own parking just tell you the free hours. Highly...

We couldn't recommend this B&B enough! We've been back to the Waterwheel a couple of times now, and plan on returning many more. Nigel and Julie are just fantastic... So accommodating and helpful, they're a pleasure to stay with. The rooms are lovely, the roll-top baths a real treat, and the breakfasts are out of this world. A very special...

In August I stayed at the B&B for the second time this year. I stayed in April this year, and as my friend was getting married in Ambleside in August I decided to book it for the night before the wedding. I recommended it to my friends also and we all stayed in the three rooms for one night before...

We have just returned from a few days break in the lakes and we found The Waterwheel Inn at the very last minute, how glad we were! This is an amazing place, the hosts Nigel and Julie are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, they are well informed about walks, views and places to eat. We stayed in...

This was a lovely place to stay. Excellent hosts. Charming and stylish room. We stayed in Stockghyll which had a view of the waterwheel. Great breakfast. Thoroughly recommend this bed and breakfast in the heart of Ambleside.

Arrived at the guest house by flowing the directions given (really easy to follow). Lovely location right in the heart of Ambleside, although you wouldn't know it as it's so quiet. We arrived and was greeted by Julie, who welcomed us and told us to come and go as we please and do as we would at home. The Waterwheel...
