The Broughton Craggs Hotel has a very welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. It's set in attractive grounds, surrounded by lovely countryside with spectacular views across to the fells. There is ample parking. Our en-suite room was very clean, well-appointed and stylishly furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts and evening meals were excellent, offering wide choices. It was a treat knowing we could go back to an enjoyable meal without having to turn out again and have a quiet drink in the comfy lounge bar afterwards. The family all work very hard making everything run smoothly without being intrusive yet are always ready to stop and help with any queries. The hotel is well-situated as a base for exploring the quieter northern lakes. We also visited Cockermouth and the coast at St. Bees. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and left well-rested and already planning our next.

We booked and took over the Broughton Craggs Hotel for my husband's 60th birthday party in Nov 2022 and what a great party it was! We had family and friends travelling from Nottingham for the party to catch up with old friends in Cumbria. The food was fabous, the efficiency of the team was great and the help & support given to make our stay and especially the evening of the party, a special one for him was fabulous. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to Dan, Lisa, Beth and young David and the rest of the team. You all helped to make our stay one of the best we've had in a long time! We'll definitely be booking again!

The staff are wonderful especially the manager Dan and also David in the restaurant who was very helpful during our stay. The Hotel has lovely gardens and views. I was very fond of the beautiful Peacocks who wander freely around the gardens. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food is lovely.

Great value, rooms a little dated but lovely building with character. Staff very friendly and accommodating, we were a little late for breakfast but no problem . Ate in the restaurant and great value with large size portions and good quality . Slight problem with Peacock announcing morning at 5 am !

This was our second time at Broughton Craggs hotel, bringing with me my elder sister and my 101 year old mother. What a lovely warm welcome we received from the owners, Dan, Lisa and their family, Caitlyn and David. They run a very picturesque hotel with gorgeous gardens and magnificent peacocks in the grounds. The leather sofas in the lounge next to the well stocked bar are so comfy and the beautiful gardens can be viewed from here - so relaxing. The bedrooms are tasteful and comfortable and the food is excellent - watch out though - HUGE portions! I have to mention how wonderful Lisa and Caitlyn were assisting with mum during a difficult situation. All I can say is they certainly went ‘above and beyond’ helping me and all the family were so kind and understanding. This is one hotel I would highly recommend and return to time and time again.

Stayed for 3 nights, room very clean and bed extremely comfortable. The cooked breakfast was perfect, no grease and served on HOT plates. The evening dining portion sizes very generous, menu covered most tastes and again food cooked to perfection. Nice relaxing lounge with wonderful views looking out to the fells. Will definitely stay again,

We stayed here for one night this weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was extremely reasonable and looked a little dated, so were a little dubious, but we actually found this added to the English charm of it all which was really quite nice. We arrived late so had to get a friend who was also staying to unlock and let us in, so do let them know if you'll be arriving later in the evening. Our room was really nice and we slept on the world's comfiest bed, we had the best nights' sleep here. The breakfast was served between 8-9.30 by a really polite and helpful young server and fully catered for our vegan needs. We checked out with a very friendly man who was very helpful and genuinely interested in our plans for the rest of the day and our safe travels home. We would definitely return the next time we are visiting the Lakes. Thank you.
