We booked in for a nearby wedding on 11/6/16 and although we were early to arrive the owner allowed us in and showed us to our rooms. The rooms were very nice with a comfy bed and en suite bathroom with shower, the shower had loads of hot water. A lovely cooked breakfast and we were more than happy, Overall... More

We stayed 2 nights while visiting the Lake District. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Food was amazing. Very large serves and wholesome. Inn keeper was very friendly and has great local advice about off the beaten track drives which was our personal highlight for the area. Recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights at the Old Posting House. The pub had an "olde worlde" atmosphere. Food was excellent both breakfast and evening meals. The portions were (too) generous. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious on the first floor. My only "complaint" would be that the bath towels are quite small. All in all a pleasant break in... More

Typical old fashioned country pub, old fashioned ways, had to phone the landlord to let us in around 3, check in supposed to be after 12. Had to wait until after 6pm to get a drink! Food was excellent huge portions. Dormer bedroom too small. No hot water for shower, as used up by other guests earlier. Bathroom was very... More

Ate here twice in the last week. Excellent house pies with wonderful chips! (You CAN have an alternative!). Quite an extensive menu including for example fresh trout. Dining room is a teapot collector's paradise and full of interest, not least of which is the original old post sorting drawers. Everything held together by the really happy and welcoming landlord. We were made very welcome by Mick, the owner, when we arrived and throughout our stay. Great conversationalist and a mine of local information. If you like your food this is the place to stay because you get a lot of it. Full English breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, black pudding and toast. I had... More

I stayed here for 1 night on a Friday as I was photographing a wedding on the Saturday in a nearby location. It felt like home from home & I was well looked after & I couldn't have asked for more! Wouldn't hesitate to stop here again if I am in the area again in the future (which I hope... More
