The reception is a bar. The bar smells of body odour. The corridors are damp and partly undecorated. There's carpet in the bathrooms. The fire alarm went off at 6:50am - no staff appeared. The guests stood around for 20 mins. Reason: they didn't hear the alarm. The alarm was set off by a shower. A problem they are aware...

We've loved this pub for years making it a regular watering hole whenever we visit the Lake District. Not much beats a trek up and over the Old Man of Coniston followed by a pint of Loweswater Gold at The Sun. Dogs welcome, a real fire, great choice of beers and now even some decent cider; Addlestones Cloudy. What's not...

We Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. Our Room was on top floor overlooking the village, not large but adequate. However there were a few things that need improvement...decor is very tired, bed was very uncomfortable, too soft. The room clean left a lot to be desired after our first morning...bed was roughly made and the used wet...

Disappointing is not strong enough to describe our experience of lunchtime service and quality of food. We have previously called on several occasions after a long walk for a lunchtime bar snack and had good service and excellent food.......today was certainly the exception!!! We chose our meals which comprised of 3 beef baguettes with chips and a prawn baguette with...

Appalling Sunday lunch for £10.95. Minimal vegetables and one small slice of beef that could neither be cut or eaten. Reported our dissatisfacton immediately but received no response. Waited 20 minutes then ate the vegetables. We were eventually told that because we had eaten the vegetables and they were holding my credit card that I had no option other than...

What an appalling place. This shabby, dirty hotel was a disgrace. We stayed for two nights last week. The bed was very uncomfortable, the bathroom (although a good size) and bedroom were dirty, the sheets didn't cover the mattress and the heating was limited to one hour only a day. Beautiful location is the only good thing to say about...

We have just eaten at the Sun Pub. Having ordered 3 Sunday beef roasts and 1 cheeseburger off the Specials board the meals arrived. All roasts had one slice of beef that had clearly been precut a long time previously and was so tough it was inedible. Steak knives might have made it but the standard cutlery couldn't get through...

I stayed here with my father for one night whilst walking the Cumbria Way. We stayed in room number 4, and it was excellent. The bathroom is particularly large and spacious. We ate at the Sun in the evening, and then had breakfast the following morning. The evening meal was good value. The breakfast was generous, with a very good-sized...

Stayed here for a weekend to sample The Lakes. Pretty standard, a little rough around the edges but the beds are the most comfortable I've slept in. A great place to stay to experience what The Lakes have to offer, but don't expect too much.
