Just back from an overnight stay here. For anyone looking for relaxation and some peace and quiet I can recommend the Waterhead Hotel. It's in a beautiful location on the shores of Lake Coniston with a quiet path down to a jetty where you can pick up the gondola service around the lake. Look the other way and you have...

Been to Coniston plenty of times but never stayed here before now. The hotel wasn't bad at all. The room was a decent size, the bed was really comfortable. The 2 ladies that were on reception / in the bar were really pleasant as well. The breakfast was spot on, and the 2 staff waiting on in the breakfast room...

Fabulous location, grand old house ,a little tired but maintained. The room was clean and comfortable and sensibly had an extra heater which we used. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, service in the restaurant was particularly good and Lottie on the reception was a delight The only disappointment was the evening menu, It had very little variety,...

Came here to spend one night in room 6, with 4 poster bed. £125 for the night was a bit expensive as, honestly, the room was a standard size, just with a four poster bed. However, it was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Horrendous weather outside kept us in the restaurant which was again, beautiful, with fantastic service, but...

Visited here on a recent break, there is free car parking and the hotel is a short distance from the local village, the hotel was clean and comfortable and the breakfast provided was nice however i found some staff to be confrontational and unhelpful when dealing with queeries therefore i will not be returning again.

Good location, nicely positioned for starting a shore line walk of the lake or 10 minutes into Coniston. Room was spacious and comfortable. We all enjoyed meals in the restaurant which served quality food from a good menu. The bar and lounge area was pleasant though a little too warm. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Overall enjoyed our...

Arrived at this Hotel earlier than the 3pm check in as my partner had taken part in the Helvellyn trail run. Room was ready which was a bonus as the weather was awful, I had contacted the hotel via e mail and requested a top floor room with a view which they had acknowledged The hotel is old fashioned with...

We recently stayed at the Waterhead Hotel, with the intention of doing some hill walking. The weather was typical for the Lake District in November, but it didn't stop us from heading for the hills around Coniston. The hotel is conveniently situated just at the edge of the village, so as we headed out towards the Old Man, we didn't...

Waterhead Hotel is a great base from which to explore Coniston and the southern Lake District. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food excellent and the public rooms pleasant and homely. We had, what I guess was one of the bigger rooms which was absolutely fine for us, the room was nicely decorated, and we were pleased with the...
