We stumbled in after finds the Dove Bistro wasn't yet open next door. The reception staff welcomed us into their hotel bar and because it was quiet they kindly got us beers from the dove that we wanted to try. The decor was warm and Christmassy, and it was welcoming and cosy! We will return for a drink in the...

this was my first trip to Grasmere, what a stunning village and I can imagine it would be heaving with tourists in the summer months. We had booked a deal via Secret Escapes for 2 nights, our room was a standard room and had everything you might wish for. They must have known it was a trip for my birthday...

I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay, it is lovely to hear what guests like about their stay most and it is nice to hear you loved the Mai Tai's so much, its one of my holiday favourites too!! On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to a better room than the king size front room we had booked. The room overlooked the rear gardens and was pleasant but not magnificent, small clean new bathroom and a seating area with a king size comfortable bed. The decor was themed, sort of Art Deco with mirrored furniture. The...

Just back from a weekend in Grasmere when Atlantic storm Desmond devastated much of the Lake District and Cumbria. Originally planning to stay and dine in another hotel we were forced to find an alternative venue for a friend's 50th birthday celebration at pretty much zero notice. Whilst circumstances could be safely said to be exceptional this past weekend and...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your friends 50th birthday in the end... we were fortunate enough not to be affected by the awful flooding and I am so glad your happy celebration was unaffected in the end! The restaurant was able to take our booking at short notice and we were told to arrive at 7.45 for drinks in the bar. However, instead we were taken straight to our table and not given the option to have a drink in the bar, which we would have preferred. We were not even asked what drinks we would like....

The staff at the Wordsworth were amazing yesterday looking after us after our hotel lost power. With no notice they arranged a special dinner for 20 of us in a separate room. Nothing was too much trouble despite the chaos of flooding and having a full hotel. Can't thank them enough

Was taken by my husband here for a surprise birthday treat. Room was large with lovely views. The general hotel sitting areas are really nicely decorated, and the open fire in reception is so welcoming. We ate a 4 course meal at the hotels restaurant this was delicious. All the staff were friendly. I'd have given a full 5/5 score...
