I booked two nights and then told my husband it was vegetarian. I need not have worried . The food was superb. The 5 course dinner was delicious and breakfast was just as tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was fine and we were aware that upgrading is progressing. Shower was a bit ready for a...

Popped in for a cream tea in the summer, it was perfect, sitting outside you get great views of the mountains beyond. It's a lovely sunny location as well. Food and drink was great, just what we wanted.

We received a very warm, friendly welcome when we arrived and, even though we were an hour early, it was no problem to check in and we could access our room, as they had just finished preparing it. Overall the standard of front of house and waiter service was excellent; the staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The 5...

Our hearts sunk a little carefully driving up the pot holed road to the rather rough overflow car park, but the peaceful setting won us over. We felt slightly deflated that no one came to the reception after ringing the bell was drowned out by the sound of workmen along the corridor, but forgot all that thanks to the warm...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night in March and it was absolutely wonderful. The decor was lovely, a kind of shabby chic feel with beautiful wooden floorboards throughout which felt different to more traditional hotels. We were told our room had been upgraded to a larger one on arrival and we soon settled in to our spacious...

We loved this vegetarian hotel, we were given a lovely room with a view over the gardens. Staff were friendly, helpful and very thoughtful. Dinner was great, really creative, tasty and something different. I can't recommend it highly enough. Lots of dishes on both the dinner and the breakfast menu could be vegan or vegetarian to suit all preferences.

This hotel is currently going through a refurbishment in various parts of the hotel but that did not stop the service or meal being anything other than good. Both my husband and I who are not vegetarian had a lovely luncheon, fresh flavours and wholesome food which you can tell had been made to order. Great waiter service, lovely scenery...

A beautiful house with lots of history. It is under new ownership and I fear it may not stay vegetarian. But, for now, the food was fantastic (very accommodating to vegans). The communal areas were comfortable and the staff very helpful and friendly. My room was awaiting refurbishment and had a funny smell, which I reported. But it was warm...

We had a wonderful stay at Lancrigg. The hotel itself is beautifully restored retaining its country house character and in the most idyllic setting on the paths to Helm Crag and Easedale Tarn with its breathtaking views and stunning waterfalls. The staff are all absolutely lovely. It is really more like being a guest in a very welcoming home. The...
