Just had a three day break staying in the lovely Walker Ground Manor, 5 minutes walk outside Hawkshead. As usual we were greeted by Sue with tea and home made cakes - this is really the best accommodation we have stayed in in the Lake District. The whole ambience of the hotel is clean, beautifully furnished and very welcoming. Richard's... More

Lovely location, a 5 minute walk from Hawkshead village centre - just close enough to enjoy the village and just far enough away for peace and quiet. Couldn't have felt more welcome... the house and room was nice and warm on a cold November weekend, breakfast was tasty and the house itself is beautiful. Will visit again!

We stayed for 3 nights at Walker Ground Manor. Our third visit and our first since Sue and Richard took over. We stayed in the veranadah room, as we have on our other visits, which is as excellent as ever. Being able to sit out on the verandah, over looking the garden in the late afternoon/early evening with a drink... More

We stayed for three days this week and had a wonderful stay. The room was large- as was the bed. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and there was a great selection to suit all tastes. Sue and Richard were perfect hosts and the location gave wonderful views across the valley yet only 5 mins or so walk to the village.... More

We returned for a second visit to Walker Ground Manor, having had a wonderful short break at the same time the year before - mid Autumn. Once again, Sue and Richard were the perfect hosts. Our stay at the Manor was perfect, excellent in all respects. Food, room, hospitality, location, friendliness - any aspect you care to name, and this... More

We couldn't expect anything better. Impeccable decoration, fantastic attention to details, spacious bedroom with giant bathroom (bubble baths were the perfect ending for our days), spotlessly cleaned and fancy breakfast. Our hosts were professional and kind. They restored the whole house and so, it's a beautiful cottage with a nearby village with a co-op supermarket and pubs that serve good... More

Just a 5 minute stroll from village centre yet you feel in the middle of the countryside. Fantastic historical house with all the comforts you could want inside. Lovely welcome. Excellent breakfast will set you up for the day.

We had a wonderful stay in the four poster room at Walker Ground Manor. The location is a short five minute walk from the center of Hawkshead village. The hosts were delightful, friendly and full of local knowledge, they made us feel most welcome. Our room had a great view, it was tastefully furnished with some special little extra touches.... This was our third visit to Walker Ground and the standard and hospitality has been outstanding throughout our visits. More to come. Its location is ideally suited for walkers and for those who may just want a leisurely couple of nights in beautiful Hawkshead.
