So glad we booked this lovely place for Sunday dinner this October. First of all, as we are fans of real ale we were welcomed with a selection of the finest Cumbria has to offer. For food, we all opted for a carvery with a choice of roast meats which was served with the biggest , most crispy Yorkshire puddings I’ve ever seen! Dinner was fab! Service was first class; even though the place was extremely busy. I needed to visit the facilities after the delicious, satisfying meal and this is where the staff went above and beyond! Whilst washing my hands my ring flew off and disappeared down the plug hole. I informed a member of staff right away and immediately, the manager arrived, wearing rubber gloves and wielding a wrench! You can guess the rest! I left the facilities having been reunited with my ring!😁 I couldn’t believe the service and promised that I would write this review for their all round personal service! Well done Romney staff- excellent food, service and exemplary ‘attention to detail!’ Many, many thanks!

My elderly parents were travelling home from the Lake District when terrible flooding was effecting their journey and then an accident on the motorway resulted in them becoming confused and unable to find their way home. After driving around for the whole day they managed to pull in to Kendal at Romneys Apartments. They went in to see if they could use the toilet and by this time my mum was quite upset and they were both stressed. They were approached by the owner, Cheryl Berry, and she was so sympathetic and immediately offered them an apartment free of charge and arranged for them to have a meal in her restaurant. The next day she drove over half an hour with them following her to show them the route back to the motorway. I would like to thank this lady for her extreme kindness and generosity to my parents. The apartment they were given and the food were of a very high standard and they would whole heartedly recommend this establishment to anyone visiting Kendal. Once again, to Cheryl, I cannot express my gratitude enough for taking such good care of my parents.

Work was poor. Made a reservation in the pub. Ordered food it took nearly an hour to come and then the quality was poor but price wasn’t cheap. Pork was chewy and veg was cold. Steak and ale pie was also poor and the whole meal was Very disappointing.

The 1 star is for Lucy who was great, we had to be moved due to a faulty smoke alarm constantly beeping we were happy just to have the alarm sorted but moved our belongings in the rain and in our pajamas gone 11 pm at night , we went out on our second day to be called by the “director and told we had to move our belongings this disturbed the second day of our break and when we explained that this was the second disruption in the same amount of days we were told we should come back and find somewhere else to stay. It is worth mentioning we are all retired and two of the 4 of us are retired police officers, they should be ashamed of their customer service I would Not recommend this establishment.
