Excellent food as usual. Nice refurbished room. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Visited with a large group of walking friends and had a really nice trip. The group has visited the hotel several times before over the years and have always been well looked...More
The hotel has not benefited from recent renovations. These renovations look cheap. The staff are poorly trained, rude and simply not knowledgeable. When you travel you find many seniors but this facility dining room seems more like a nursing facility. The bar area was poorly...More
Booked online. Recieved phone call 30 mins later saying that I would have to change rooms after first night of a two night stay. I said that wasn't acceptable and would consider booking elsewhere. Told that if I did they would take £160 from me...More
Lovely classic hotel ,with a great restaurant,we stayed 3 nights and chose to eat every night,we had a lovely comfortable room, and staff and service was first class.and we found the prices for acccomodations very reasonable
We have stayed here on several occasions and always stay in the station rooms as we prefer the extra privacy it affords as it is separate from the hotel.
Choice hotels have undertaken some major refurbishment since we last visited the restaurant bar and lounge...More

Good hotel for Keswick and area. Recommendations depend on how you like to spend your time. Lots of great walks,- a classic is the Catbells Terrace walk or the hilltops themselves. Bus service from centre of town....Booths supermarket...is an excellent way to start or finish a walk. Buttermere is great for a visit and walk. Castlerigg Stone Circle is nearby but can get busy,- go early or, if there's a sunset, go late. View from Lattrigg, behind the hotel, driveable for 80% of the way, is excellent. Cinema is good. Spoiled for choice with pubs. Alternative to using bus or car ....use Keswick Launch BUT check which landing stages are open because of the recent drought and the low level of water in Derwentwater.
