Our stay at the George was delightful. It is a very elegant hotel with an old fashioned feeling to it of bygone times. Staff were excellent, food was exceptional. The only thing I would say is about the bedrooms. We opted for a club room, which was more expensive than a standard room, bigger we were told. We found the...

Booked a club room at vast expense, it was a small attic room with a creaky bed on the ' third' floor, really the 4th.. frankly, not worth the £99 we paid. Breakfast was mediocre, with very poor coffee.

The George hotel has a lot of character. There is plenty of good seating in the bars and communal area to relax. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Decent car park to the rear of the hotel. Very handy for local shops and restaurants. We booked a club room which is a decent size and freshly renovated bathroom. The bed...

Arrived quite late, but not an issue. Parking is a little constricted but private and safe around the back of the hotel. ( You might need to park around the front and go to reception for directions). Ate in the Dappers bar in the evening, very nice tasty food and nice selection of beer without being over the top. Comfortable...

My wife and I had the pleasure of a 2 night stay here recently, The George Hotel is a stunning place with an abundance of character and charm.indeed it's like stepping back into an age where manners and excellent service were the norm and not something you were lucky to get. The building whilst being old is kept to a...

Nice old building with friendly staff. Afternoon tea , however, unfortunately was average for the price. Bread a bit dry but ham inside was lovely. Nice scones but cakes a bit too tiny maybe, also selection of sandwich fillings may have been more varied.

We went to the George in December and enjoyed it so much we said we would definitely come back and when we were emailed with a great DBB deal with all rooms the same price, just book early to get the best, we finished up with a lovely suite. The food was first class, service great, staff delightful, altogether a...

A nice meal, in a pleasant atmosphere. Good food served well, but nothing to make me want to wrote home about. Unfortunately on one real ale on, not the advertised 2, but this can't be helped as beers run out from time to time

I stayed here with my wife last Saturday on a deal which included tea/scones and a 3 course evening meal. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and were soon offered our tea. There was 2 large scones with jam and cream which were excellent. I also had a tuna toastie which came with salad and fries at a reasonable...
