One of or dogs had to have an emergency surgery in Penrith so we had to stop overnight -after several calls to the local hotels the george was the only one left that would let us bring our other dog to stay at the 11th hour. They gave us a beautiful room and brought us a water dish for our...

Hi cvmillion, I remember having a good chin wag with you at breakfast time. I do hope your furry friend has made a speedy recovery and can join us at the George (maybe even have a sausage at breakfast). kind regards Dave and team George

This is a good old fashioned coaching inn so if you are looking for ultra modern this is probably not the place for you . It is centrally located and has the bonus of a car park . The staff are friendly and helpful . I gladly accepted the offer of help with my bag as some of the stairs...

Weekend stay at the George Hotel with my other half. Booked it as a package to include breakfast, 3 course dinner (both nights) and a cream scone and tea on one of the days of our stay, package was excellent value. The 3 course dinner was very good with food very well presented, breakfasts were excellent with an array of...

Chose the George based on location and found that it was an excellent base to visit the Lakes. Penrith itself was a nice location with all the facilities that you would require for general shops, banks etc. The Hotel was in my opinion excellent and the staff were all helpful and polite. We stayed for the 3 nights with Breakfast...

A nice hotel, very friendly staff, good food, comfortable and clean rooms. The lounge area is great to relax and enjoy a drink. The room was very spacious and had everything we wanted in it. Staff were eager to help. A good find.

We ate in the dappers bar. Was lovely sitting by the fire. Brie starter was amazingly good and very big portion. Infact all the food was delicious. Would visit again. Slightly on the pricey side for drinks, but to be expected at a hotel.

Stayed for two nights in room 24, a room overlooking the main street. The George Hotel is an old hotel in the centre of Penrith. I haven't looked into the history but the location, look and feel resembles an old coaching inn. Free Car parking on site but this is quite tricky to find thanks to Penrith's confusing one way...

Great two night stay, the room was large and very nicely appointed, breakfast was good quality and cooked to order , I would stay here again. Very convenient in the centre of town near to shops and restaurants whilst a short drive from Ullswater. Parking was a bonus.
