Just had the alternative afternoon tea and got to say what a wonderful time we had. The staff and service were excellent from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble, and they kept checking to see if we wanted any more hot drinks. The food was great and very filling, we even had to take the brownies away with us as we were soooo full. My one small complaint was the enemic frozen chips, surley some lovely home made ones would have been better, but would definitely recommend this the anyone. And would certainly return.

Sorry to say that my husband and I didn’t enjoy our meal ! My husband ordered a “tasteless “ chicken burger ! My meal was the stone bass fillet but rather disappointing and not what I envisioned for such a pricey dish ! Far too many cannellini beans and not enough sauce and not Keen on the texture or flavour ! definitely won’t be returning!

A very good all round experience. Staff were very good, attentive without being overbearing. Room was fine and accommodated our dog with bed towel and treats in dish as a welcome. Location was perfect for us with some walks from hotel. Reception, bar staff and restaurant staff all very happy and helpful. Restaurant staff knowledgable. Food, wine and their own craft beers was very good. Spoilt for choice on the dinner menu, we need to go back to sample more! Breakfasts were great, lots of high quality choice

Came for a family Sunday lunch. Positives were that the place is lovely and cosy, nice open fires and gorgeous location. However food was really poor and with no check backs to the table we felt we didn’t have the opportunity to say anything at the right time. The staff were dealing with a complaint from another table. Tough roast beef, barely reheated roast potatoes, lukewarm pudding, fatty chicken for my daughter. Was told that thigh meat is used for kids meals as it doesn’t dry out like chicken breast. Very disappointed as have recently applied for a locals’ discount card but not sure we will use it here again.

This is one of the few (probably only) hotels we keep going back to. in the Lakes, it os our 'go to' place. It has lots of charm and high standards but a comfortable an unpretentious feel about the place. Food is great quality - breakfast and dinner - and the staff are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. We have stayed in the standard and superior (previously) rooms and both very good.
