We only had one night and as we had stayed at Gilpin before decided to break our journey there. The reason we booked it was because we found the service excellent and the food stunning, plus the rooms are really well furnished. This stay the welcome and care taken, as we were towing a trailer and need parking, was excellent....

We stayed at the lake house, on arrival we was greeted very pleasantly, and first impressions were good, we had booked the platinum spa trail, so everything was planned for a full day and night. As a man spas aren't really my thing, but as far as spas go the facilities were fine, could really do with some back ground...

I’m very sorry but I must rate this Hotel as awful in every category. My partner and I stayed for the August bank holiday. We were attracted to this Hotel by its recent appearance on TV with Alex Polizzi. Therefore the main attraction was the dining experience. We were sat downstairs for 2 hours and in that time were given...

Recently I was lucky enough to stay two nights in one of the luxurious garden suites! From the moment we walked into the hotel it felt homely and the lounges within the main part of the hotel were beautifully decorated and furnished. We were in the garden suite called Sergeant Man, I was really impressed with the size of the...

We recently hired the Lake House for our wedding over a weekend in November and it is simply amazing. Firstly the operations manager Chris did a brilliant job of helping to plan our weekend to really make the most out of the time we had with our friends and family. The team were flexible with our requirements and responsive in...

We spent a delightful and luxurious two nights in one of the Garden Suites to celebrate a special occasion. The room was gorgeous, with an enormous bed and lots of room within the suite to spread out and relax during the unfortunate weather - which was the one thing the hotel staff could not help with. The very large bath...

If you book a room & dinner package online then DO NOT assume that you are booked in for dinner. The ambiguous process (consisting of email and phone call) left us with a dinner slot on the Saturday which was far too early. Nevertheless we turned up on time but the staff left us unattended in the lounge for an...

Lovely hotel , fabulous food and of very high standards in room, food and attentive friendly staff. However though the Hotel does not have spa facilities on site. You have to travel to lake house and even if you book a spa treatment you still cannot use the pool and facilities. You have to get a Complimentary pass and travel...

Despite a bit of confusion with e-mails, the service we received at Gilpin Hotel was spot on. All the front of house staff went out of their way to provide great service. My husband visited the spa and said it was beautifully positioned and designed We had a relaxing Friday night with interesting gins, nibbles and the tasting menu. Saturday...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating lasting memories for their guests, who return time and again for celebrations and escapes. Warmth and friendliness are balanced with extraordinary service, exquisite décor and stunning culinary experiences. This five star hotel comprises two separate estates in the beautiful Lake District, with a luxury country house on each. At Gilpin Hotel all of the 25 bedrooms have lovely Lakeland views, most leading directly onto the gardens - including six Garden Suites with their own cedarwood hot tubs, and five fabulous detached Spa Lodges. The Spa Lodges were added in 2016, and are cedar-clad with king size beds, gorgeous bathrooms and a fabulously private en-suite spa each, with a convertible treatment area, steam room, rain maker shower, free standing oval stone bath, outdoor sauna and hydrotherapy hot tub surrounded by a walled garden. Add this to the mood lighting, fires, electric blinds and a state-of-the-art music system, and all of the senses are invigorated. Just a mile away at Gilpin Lake House, six gorgeous rooms share a fully staffed boutique hotel with a heated indoor swimming pool (for Lake House guests only), outdoor hot tubs and saunas, and exclusive access to 100 acres of grounds with a stunningly beautiful private lake. Our chauffeurs bring you to the hotel in the evening to dine. Dine in either the Michelin starred main restaurant, 'Hrishi', where Hrishikesh Desai combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia, or in 'Gilpin Spice' a new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China. ... more   less
