This very charming guest house is cozy, comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. There are lots of breakfast selections including fried bread (yummy) and eggs benedict which the owners prepare and serve themselves.

We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived & were shown to our room. Our room was spotlessly clean (as was the whole property) & quite charming. We had tea, coffee & chocolate making facilities along with biscuits. An LCD TV ,DVD player & iPod hub were in the room also a hairdrier. We also had ample wardrobe storage...

Situated half way between Bowness and Windermere the Chestnuts is within easy walking distance for both. Spotlessly clean and with lovely breakfasts it offers the ideal location in the southern lakes. With a warm welcome and excellent facilities we are happy to recommend it to future visitors.

Good place to stay, very comfortable and welcoming. It is right in between Bowness and the Lake and the village of Windermere. Rooms are spacious with a plentiful ensuite. Breakfast was great, cooked and served well.

We stayed in Chestnuts guest house for two nights and will definitely be back. Situated just a ten minute walk from Windermere town or Bowness town, it couldn't be better located. When we arrived there were chocolates on our four poster bed, and after being shown our room, we had tea and cake in the dining room... Perfect after a...

We had room 1 on the ground floor, which was very comfortable, stylish and inviting, with little extra's thrown in. There is ample parking for guests. The Chestnuts is located off the main road...

It is a nice place with well kept rooms. The reception was warm. Breakfast is good. It is a 15 minute walk to the lake. If I visit Windermere again, I will definitely be here for my stay. The facilities in the room are good. The host is very hospitable and I felt at home. Strongly recommended.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights (wish it could have been more!) in November. We had room 1 on ground floor, it has very comfortable king size 4 poster bed with and en suite, lovely cosy dressing gowns, tv, and tea/coffee facilities.
