My husband and I stayed for just 1 night in the Meregill room. The room and bathroom spotless, with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The Sherry went down a treat! The room was very, very hot due to the radiator in the bathroom, luckily my husband managed to turn it off! Our only complaint! The lady...

Thought the hotel was in a great location. Not too far from the centre of Bowness which was perfect as we like the wall in which takes about 15 minutes. The room (the retreat) was lovely and very clean. We liked the fact it is not in the main part of the hotel so you feel a bit more private....

Me and my girlfriend stay in Windermere every New Year's Day. We have previously stayed at the hideaway but that was fully booked. So we gave the howbeck a try. We booked in booking.com at £125. When we arrived we was given a room on the first floor basically next to the entrance which proved very noisy with people coming...

We stayed at the Howbeck for a birthday break. Given the price/description of the hotel we expected luxury. What we found wasn't quite that. The floor was dirty and the 'retreat' smelt strongly of paint and bleach. Paid extra for champagne and chocolates which were nicely presented alongside fairy lights and rose petals. We required a cot which was provided....

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of December. Check in was very smooth, our room was the Greenburn which overlooked the main road, this wasn't a problem, we didn't notice any noise as such. The room was spotlessly clean with nice touches such as a small decanter of sherry and 2 glasses, chocolates and...

We stayed at the end of November in Capelcrag. A lovely room with a four poster bed. Sherry decanter a nice touch. Bottled water and tea/coffee naking facilities. Lovely bathroom although the shower wasn't very hot there was plenty of hot water for a bath. Breakfast was very good - help yourself to cereal, juice, yogurt and toast and a...

Stayed here as visiting my gran near by. The room is nice, relatively good value for money. The service was good and breakfast was really good, with cereal laid out. Then a starter like porridge or fruit salad. Then a nice cooked breakfast.

Hotel is immaculately kept, really classy. It's just out of town too so very easy to walk to and from. Parking at the back is a bit tricky to get in and out of but no big deal. Definitely will be back

A first visit by us and stayed in the Meregill room, it was nicely furnished and decorated and the nice touch of a small sherry decanter and bottled water was enjoyed. A good bathroom with decent facilities. Breakfast was excellent all freshly cooked, pre-order hot food the night before, service efficient rather than warm and friendly. The room proved to...

We stayed for one night on our way over to grasmere. We were greeted by Gosha, who was very warm, welcoming and professional. We stayed in the Retreat which we found was superb and very private with a separate entrance and lovely water feature which would be lovely to sit and listen to in the warmer months. Very clean and...
