We stayed at this hotel mid January for a couple of nights. The hotel is a couple of miles north of Windermere by the side of the lake. The hotel itself is a beautiful period building with oak panelling and real fireplaces in the hall and bar which were very welcome in the cold weather. The food and service was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of walks in the area and it’s not too hilly. We paid a lot but were very disappointed with our room which was extremely small (approx 9ft x 11ft with a tiny tiny bathroom. The hotel is dog friendly which is fine although we were not too impressed with the number of dogs being allowed into the dining room especially at breakfast.

We Eloped to Cragwood for our wedding in early January just after the new year. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special and valued as guests, we had champagne in our room on arrival - and what a room it was. With a stunning view over Lake Windermere with Scaffell Pike in the distance topped with snow. An incredibly comfy and huge bed and a free standing bath which we spent far too much time in. We opted for the fine dining (£49pp) each night and it was just incredible, the staff served it and explained what everything on the plate was proudly. A lovely five course that was portioned and paced perfectly. Breakfast in bed was lovely and delivered precisely when we asked for it on each day and once again the quality was fantastic. For our wedding, the venue and grounds were just stunning and created some excellent opportunities for our photographer. Hannah - our wedding planner, remained in contact in the run up and locked down the details on the day for that final piece of mind. After the wedding we had more free champagne and a lovely afternoon tea. When we booked out, we were given an incredible generous offer to take our first honeymoon back at Cragwood which we will absolutely be booking. Thank-you so much for all of your attention and for such an incredibly high quality service, our wedding day was stress free and magical. We look forward to seeing you all again! Jonathan & Emma

Stayed here in November for my partners birthday. Beautiful hotel and surroundings. Our room had the best views of lake windermere and the bed was really comfortable. The only issue we had was the size of the bathroom but no big deal really. Will definitely come back again.

We stayed one night in a large family room. Nice decor and strong power shower. Great views of the lake. We have two dogs they gave the grounds their paws of approval. Beautiful scenery. The food was excellent. All our courses were lovely. The service was top notch.
