Lovely hotel needs renovating in rooms but overall very nice. Staff were lovely very helpful especially Nicki and Jamie couple of little concerns sorted straight away. The food was lovely great choices and lovely breakfast to set you up for the day. It’s in an ideal spot walking distance to most places of interest. We were with the Touromo coach trip and everyone agreed they had enjoyed their stay.
absolute dump - door locks were faulty and linen was covered in stains (blood or cuury I could not be sure). expected some kind of response from desk staff but all i got was non-comital shrugs and very little action. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILIES HERE THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES FOR THE SAME PRICE IN LIVERPOOL.
Stayed at the hotel as part of a coach party trip ( 19th March), must admit having read some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive. Yes only one lift was operational and a few bits looked tired, but excellent service, friendly staff and brilliant room - 1001 certainly made up for this. Great 3 course evening meal and excellent breakfast, along with a clean room, wet room shower and a very good night sleep mean that we will certainly visit again.
So I’ll start by saying that yes I booked an extremely cheap deal at the hotel but it is a four star hotel and you would expect some sort of four star standards. When we arrived there was no one on reception. We waited and a girl finally came out and asked if we’re checking in. She checked us in and told us what time breakfast was. I had to ask about the two glasses of Prosecco that we got as part of the deal and she gave us a voucher. We made our way to the lift as we were in the 9th floor. Only 1 lift from 3 was working. The room was tired, wooden and small. The bathroom wasn’t overly clean so I wiped everything down. There were stains down the wall, not exactly 4 star. We slept ok but the pillows were awful, really cheap and hard. There was no bottled water and no body lotion in the bathroom. On our way eat to eat for the evening we thought we’d use our vouchers so tried to find the bar. The Vue bar that was signposted on the second floor was an empty room. We had to ask at reception to be told the bar was on the first floor. My daughter remarked it was like a working man’s club! Horrible cheap wooden tables and chairs. The restaurant was next door and no disrespect looked like a wake. I don’t think there was anyone under 80 there! I’m not being rude but if you like a bit of a vibe then there wasn’t any! Breakfast in the morning wasn’t great. We had to ask for plates, the cutlery and glasses weren’t clean nor were the coffee cups. It just all felt in need of a really good clean. We checked out after having walked down 9 flights of stairs as still only one lift working. The cheery lady on reception asked if we had enjoyed our stay and if we wouldn’t mind doing a 5 star trip advisor review. The hotel is so far off 5 stars I was speechless. I know Covid has hit hotels hard in terms of modernising but there is no excuse for cleanliness and I wouldn’t return. There are far better hotels in Liverpool.…
Brought my mum and daughter for a Mother’s Day afternoon tea. The service was exceptional (thank you Susie). The selection of cakes and sandwiches superb and excellent value for money. Would definitely visit again for a true Liverpool experience overlooking the waterfront!!
Stayed here for st paddy's day weekend could not be happier gave us free upgrade to privilege room with great views of Liverpool plus a hearty breakfast to start the day, all staff very pleasant and helpful rooms very clean and the bed was so comfy definitely will return THANKYOU MERCURE .
Worst experience I have ever had! Stayed in Superior Family Room which was dirty, outdated and falling apart. Bathroom was disgusting, mould around the bath and extractor pitted with dust and god knows what else, that bad it was almost blocked. Customer service was non existent, tried to order room service for almost 45minutes with no joy. Front reception uncontactable from the room. Good job it wasn’t an emergency!
Don't be put off by appearances. The hotel is a little tired and would benefit from a refurb. But... It's in a great location and it has parking (even thought it is a short walk into the next street). The staff were all great. Warm welcome at reception and a friendly chat with the staff behind the bar. The breakfast was very good. The usual offering of hot and cold. But well cooked and tasty (Fried bread, haven't had that for years). We had a small issue with the room. Sorted out immediately. And when the cleaner didn't leave more biscuits the duty manager brought them up himself. Would I go back? Absolutely.
The service and facilities at this hotel has degraded terribly. Front desk staff ignore you and are unhelpful. Upon checking in I asked if my allocated room was next to the lift, room 502, was told no, it was and when I got there I couldn't open it. They moved me to a different room. 2 out of the 3 lifts weren't working. The in room heating wasn't working, said error and as no phone in room I couldn't ring down, though tried several times from my phone to no avail. At check in, wasn't advised about parking, only knew protocol as I'd been before. Dayle at reception particularly unhelpful and after an issue with breakfast not seemingly on my reservation, when I had to go back to my room to get my work phone, I'm convinced they blocked my card so I couldn't get into room. I then had to wait several minutes for someone to come and let me in, but they did not bring a new room key! Normally at breakfast you can get poached eggs, but advised not today. I've stayed here numerous times and always look to book in here. I'll be cancelling future booked stays. Disappointing. …
The hotel is well situated near the historic site of the river the Mersey. There are even quite some rooms with Mersey view! The breakfast had loads of choice and was good. The hotel is outdated and the rooms are not very clean. Some stuff was broken and the whole room could use paint. The housekeeping didn’t clean my room on one of the three days of my stay. I did see them talking on the hallway and they gave me a pile of towels but they wouldn’t clean my room even though I said I was not going to be in my room. Two of the three lifts were out of service and weren’t looked at in four days. I walked the stairs to my room at the TENTH floor around five times. I even carried my luggage down because the one lift was continuously packed. It feels like they have given up here.
