On the basis of the hotel offering something unique I’ll offer 3/5. It could be so much better. First impressions and uniqueness are lovely, but it doesn’t take long to see they aren’t upholding four star standards by a longshot. Lack of cleanliness, basic housekeeping services, failing to open hotel facilities back up and generally trying to survive on bare skeletal staff whilst trying to still blame covid for it is really taking its toll. I honestly don’t think this is a result of a ‘covid hangover’ though and they are genuinely managing the hotel to cut corners wherever possible, it’s the millennium way after all. A brief rundown of the hotel Reception/Entrance. Looks lovely and welcoming and definitely something different. However, rarely more than 1 member of staff on and a constant queue. Always a large amount of suitcases wedged in to the side of reception. It’s also dark, which is a recurring theme. I was told on checking in that due to covid you weren’t providing housekeeping unless requested. I requested just basic bin emptying, replenish in the toilet and refreshment station and yet received nothing the 2 nights we stayed. At heightened genuine UK restrictions last year I was getting these provided and that is the bare minimum you should always have offered. Corridors and communal areas. Whilst they look lovely with large Beatle photos everywhere and background Beatle music throughout the carpets would benefit from a deep clean in higher footfall areas. Take a look with a light on. Walls are scuffed here and there, and wow, how dark are the corridors walking to the rooms? This isn’t an attempt at energy saving , it’s just dark and unwelcoming. Only one lift working the full stay. Some advice from someone in facilities management, put a date on the out of order notice, update it with an update on progress, and attach it with some degree of professionalism. Hotel Room. Again, looks lovely, kind of retro looking with long ceiling to floor curtains, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Filthy single glazed windows and not just on the outside. Hairs on the floor, used Nespresso capsules offered as fresh. The mattress was far beyond it's expected lifespan, pillows were terrible. Carpet join line fraying badly. The bathroom grout work and showerhead badly requires a mould and mildew clean and bring a shine back to the tiles. The curtains had some bad staining around the bed area at low level. Room generally way too dark even with all lights on, especially bathroom. I phoned reception for extra toilet roll one night in (weren’t full rolls to start with) No response. Massive queue at reception, retrieved some from the large feed in the gents in the basement for the wife. I asked at reception on our way out if they could replenish to be informed they couldn’t enter the rooms. You’re running a 4* hotel. Don’t be ridiculous. Only the lounge area is open for drinks and often more serving staff than anywhere else. Open the ground floor bar early evening as a minimum. I'd have stayed for a drink but the lounge area was little more than a waiting room, and dark, very dark. Blakes Restaurant. Only used for breakfast. Cooked breakfast was superb, quality ingredients, well cooked, great coffee. The staff were amazing. If the hotel isn’t offering all its facilities it’s no better than a neighbouring budget hotel except the addition of a cooked breakfast. Bring back the standards or you'll be dropping to 3* in no time. How many 4* hotels are there within 20 minutes’ walk from here? If you're thinking of staying here check their prices and think about at what price point paying for some Beatle references makes this place worth it. I don't think it is.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to submit your review after your recent stay with us. We sincerely appreciate your feedback but we are very disappointed to see that your experience did not live up to your expectations or previous stays. Please allow me to apologise unreservedly for the various issues you experienced. The last thing I wish to do is make any excuses or appear defensive in any way but I would like to explain the extent that our current staffing issues are affecting the business in every department. As the media have been reporting for some time, the hospitality industry as a whole is experiencing immense struggles to attract staff for our vacancies and the candidates available are not experienced to the extent that we are accustomed. This naturally results in areas of weakness from time to time which can on occasion, directly affect our guests. Notwithstanding, there can never be any excuse for a lack of cleanliness, service or quality so please do not think that we are accepting of this in any way. As with all of our guest feedback, yours will be utilised to address the areas of concern with the staff members as part of our process of bringing ourselves fully back up to standard. I hope that you will consider returning to stay with us again in the future when we can fully meet and hopefully exceed your expectations. Best Wishes, Liam Baker-Bellew Rooms Division Manager

Hotel's Favourite
This Tour is a MUST when visiting Liverpool. Hardly knowing anything about the City and its Famous Sons in detail, i decided to book, where my Guide was named Joe. It was supposed to be a 2 hour Tour, where Joe explained that we would visit the important Landmarks associated with The Fab Four - Birth Places etc, plus be able to get up close and personal so we could take photographs. Overwhelming was an understatement at the vast knowledge Joe knew about the Beatles and the passion he demonstrated - from the houses where they were born and raised and wrote their iconic songs to Penny Lane, Eleanor Rigby's Graveside and other eye opening facts about Liverpool. At my sheer delight, the Tour lasted a total of 3 hours, and even then i didn't want it to end, i was enjoying myself that much. This is a memory i will treasure and talk about for years to come, which coming to the end was quite emotional. What Joe did not know was not worth knowing, about The Beatles in particular and Liverpool. He was an amazing, friendly down to earth Character with a great sense of humour, making us feel at ease - typical of a Scouser. I have become a Fan of the Beatles all over again and can't wait to come back to this great City. If you ever visit Liverpool then make this top of your to do list with Joe himself. You will not be disappointed. Read less Date of experience: May 2021 Trip type: Travelled with friends

Stayed here for 1 night and really enjoyed my stay. The staff were super friendly, kind and very courteous. I am not a huge Beatles fans, (my parents were in to the Rolling Stones) but the art work, photos and memorabilia around the hotel are fabulous. Room was nice and large. All the facilities you need. Even biscuits with my coffee, which I have noticed over the last few years this seems to be lacking in a lot of hotels. Breakfast was good. I don't enjoy a cooked breakfast too early in the day so cannot comment on the quality but it sure looked fine. All the staff, wheter it was receprtion, housekeeping, breakfast room were lovely. Keep up the good work.

Stayed here for 2 nights, one in a standard room and the other in the Lennon suite (postponed from April to October due to COVID) The hotel is lovely, and staff very friendly, however it is in need of some TLC. The carpets are threadbare in places on the stairs, and there was a broken biscuit outside our door in the lobby that was there for the whole stay, so obviously cleaning is an issue. Our standard room was very nice, with some extra little touches that really polished it off, but again could of done with a lick of paint and a good dust, (it was by no means dirty, just a little dusty) We were so excited to enjoy a night in Bar four and sample the amazing cocktails I’ve heard so much about, but to our disappointment, the bar was closed and not currently in use, despite still being advertised on the website. I understand COVID has hit places like this hard staff wise, but it would have been nice if we were told of this prior to our stay, and this was a real disappointment. I was told to check early the next day to see if an earlier check in time was available for my stay in the Lennon suite, (this was the main reason of my stay, to experience the suite) which I did, and was told at 1pm that the room would be put on priority for me, and they would call my room to let me know when it was ready, but would definitely be done by the standard 3pm check in time. I waited the whole 2 hours and heard nothing, so went back to reception to collect my key at 3pm, only to be told that the room still was not ready and I would have to wait. Almost another hour went by (now 3:50) when I’m finally allowed to check in! To have spent so much money on this I was very disappointed that I didn’t get the full time in there, and I wasn’t even given an apology for the delay! That’s said, I must say it was worth the wait, the room is stunning and better than the photos! But again, there was a few signs that cleaning was not up to standard as there was coffee cup stains on the piano etc (again nothing too bad but not ideal) The fresh flowers advertised were also not present in the room, nor were the complimentary slippers. My stay was by no means ruined by any of this, but I do feel for the price and the expectations of this hotel, it was a little disappointing. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, but not once was I given any kind of an apology or heads up to what would be missing or closed on my stay. I have to say though that the Lennon suite is incredible! The atmosphere in there is just indescribable , and as avid beatles fans, and amateur musicians, it was a dream come true and a great place for inspiration! I would definitely recommend, but would say to check everything first, and don’t expect perfection.

We have stayed here a number of times over the last 10 years, and sorry to say it is no longer the premium 4 star hotel it used to be. The last 2 times visited, we have had no replacement coffees, tea , or bathroom shampoo etc in the room. You don’t actually see any room cleaning of any kind going on and have to hunt out your replacement towels and new toilet roll etc!! Breakfast has also gone down hill it used to have a items to order, now just food that looks like it has sat there hours ,buffet and lukewarm. They also offer a meagre continental offering of cheese and ham but no bread or croissants to eat it with! Staff appear quite dour and look like they don’t want to be there! Curtains and carpets in the corridors need a real good clean. The cocktail bar that was always great fun appears to be closed also! Outside of hotel is scruffy and needs a clean, also missing the really friendly door man! This used to be a really personal themed Beatles hotel and a few years ago, this review would be very different. Now it is an overpriced average hotel with Beatles pictures on the wall.

Dear Coco1000717, Thank you for your review of our hotel after your recent stay. I would like to apologize for any shortfalls in your recent experience. However, I have noted your comment on certain aspects of our decor being "tired". We are very aware of these current shortcomings and I apologize if you were disappointed in any way but I am delighted to be able to assure you that we are attending to these aspects of our business with a substantive refurbishment of all of our bedrooms and public areas this year. As a first impact, we are installing new corridor and public area carpeting in all areas in June with wall decorating and furniture replacement progressing through the year. I have no doubt that all areas of our hotel will be markedly improved as the next 12 months unfold and hope that you will visit us again in the future when I am sure you will see these improvements as they are implemented. Best Wishes, Liam Baker-Bellew Rooms Division Manager
