This is a stunning hotel (not actually stayed overnight) with a hidden gem of a bar (with ciurtyard)... Waeska Bar. Great cocktails and amazing service. This is 100% a place to take someone on a special date.

We stay in the city once a month and have a ticklist of places to try. This was definitely on it! We stayed here for a spontaneous trip mid week as a couple. Pros- it is a very quirky unusual hotel Good location Staff are friendly Nice artwork Bathrooms great Beautiful courtyard for drinks Octopus - amazing! Cons For the price, the room is very small Shared veranda/ balcony No artwork in bedrooms Nowhere to have room service, had to sit on the bed with food! Bar and restaurant and walkways very hot and stuffy Staff seem new and inexperienced Bar staff chatting rather than serving

Love this place! Me and my boyfriend came for drinks on a Thursday evening, we met Marco when we walked in and he was a great host, very friendly and welcoming. We sat on the terrace and it was a nice chilled vibe in a beautiful setting. Definitely coming back!

Enjoyable stay at Mandrake hotel that is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. A great base for exploring. Room itself was comfortable, the hotel itself was gorgeous. Lots of plants which I love anyway. Mandrake is a vibe. Special thanks to Melissa who looked after us so well. Even if we did peak far to early and had to go to bed!!

Ordered drinks at the bar at 10:20 PM and the manager suddenly instructed the staff not to serve us (and they looked surprised) - told us ‘bar closed’. Then served white wine to another couple (non-coloured) - when asked why they could be served and not us, the reason given was that bar closed at 10pm and they had ordered before 10pm - really? - took you 20 mins to serve in an empty bar? - website showed bar opening time until 11pm on Tuesdays. Could have understood if we were loud or unruly and creating a scene but that was not the case - all 40+ and very civilised. I would like to point out that the manager was very arrogant and rude and when I mentioned that it was wrong to serve others and not us, he said - ‘that’s a very strong statement’ What was really upsetting was that in the 21st centuary, one can be made to feel ‘not welcome’ in such a reputable establishment that too in London. If he didn’t want to serve us, he could have politely told us the reason and apologised for not being able to serve. Indian and Asian - kindly don’t waste your money and time in this biased establishment.

I can fully appreciate why this hotel is popular - the décor is outstanding, the reception staff are friendly and the terrace is very tranquil. However, we were left a little disappointed following our recent stay due to a number of things. Firstly, the tranquillity offered by the outdoor terrace by day is at odds with our experience of the hotel by night. There is a bar on the ground floor which is clearly very popular and has a resident DJ on weekends. As hotel guests, when we returned to the hotel on an evening, we had to queue outside with those wishing to go into the bar and then walk through the very busy, very noisy bar just to access the lift to our room. Perhaps it was just the weekend that we stayed, but one bar was packed full of very young people (around 18/19 years old) and the other, a young group of girls with halo lights having a photo shoot. As this really is not our scene, it made us uncomfortable being forced to walk through this just to go to bed. What's worse is that the music is so loud we could feel the bass vibrating in our room so we had a terrible sleep (I was forced to buy earplugs for the second night, but it made no difference). As others have commented, it feels this place cares more about those who attend the bar than paying hotel guests. The breakfast was ok - I heard two guests asking for decaf coffee which they did not have available. The granola came with little yoghurt and no honey which made for a dry breakfast. We had cocktails one evening which cost £20 each and we felt this was too expensive for what was on offer. As hotel guests, you also cannot just pop in for drinks, you need to pre-book as the bar is open to everyone. We were lucky that they accommodated us last minute, but we saw numerous other hotel guests being turned away despite there being free tables. Both breakfast and cocktails were held on the terrace which is beautiful. However, some of the tables and chairs and extremely rusted and my partner got a large rust stain on her white trousers from the chair which was disappointing. Our room was nice albeit small. The mini bar is well stocked (it would be better if they provided milk for the tea and coffee) and the shower room was nice and clean. I have noted in other reviews that management suggested bringing the shortfalls to their attention during the stay, however, the issues we had were fundamental issues with the hotel, mainly regarding the bar, which they could not rectify. We were also unable to move rooms as the hotel was full. Unfortunately, we felt that this hotel lacked a bit of class despite the clear style which it offers and we won't be returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Mandrake. From arrival to check out, I really can’t describe how wonderful, friendly and attentive the whole team were. It really made our stay so brilliant. It had a cool vibe from dawn to dusk. The art was interesting and our room was old school soothing and calming, super quiet, spacious and welcoming. We will return for the winter season and new dressing of the winter garden space, can’t wait. Our new go to place for weekend experiences in London. Thank you to all of the team , especially Veronica and Jen. Meet ShowGirl in the image attached. The rest you must discover yourselves.

The Mandrake is clearly the product of passion and love—one person's vision executed by a friendly and welcoming staff, and brought to life by swarms of young people who flock to the bar most nights and listen to the (very loud) DJ music there. The hotel is organized around a courtyard with terraces, and most rooms have a little table outside their terrace doors, so you can sit and take in the multi-leveled and lush garden environment. There's an elevator shaft with a large gargoyle peering down on the courtyard, and the art and colors you experience just riding the elevator are enough to make this hotel unforgettable. It's not the sort of place I would have imagined myself loving, based on how trendy and club-like it appeared, but all in all my tens days there were among the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Very helpful and welcoming staff; after just a couple of days there it started to feel like a home outside of home. Highly recommended.

AWFUL stay at the Mandrake Hotel. I booked and paid in full for 5 nights 3 months prior to my stay, and on my 2nd night, I was told that I needed to pack up and leave because there was an event/celebrity in the hotel and they needed my room! The hotel booked me into another hotel without my consent and they told me to pack up and leave. I have NEVER in my life heard of such treatment in a "5 star" hotel. I spoke to the manager, Martin, who was rude and unprofessional. I was not offered any compensation. It was only until I refused to leave that he agreed to compensate me for 2 nights. Extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. Horrendous customer service and treatment of guests. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere!!! Go to another 5 star hotel that values their customers who aren't "VIPs"

I attended to the Crystal Bowl and Reiki session with the Mystic Sisters, it was run by amazing Maria and a fantastic Reiki healer. I had an absolutely divine experience, total relaxation and peace during and after the session. Maria was very accomodating and is a very skilled at what she does. I am so looking forward to attending again soon!
