I always check reviews for hotels before booking and this one came with an excellent one and from our experience it is totally deserved. On arrival, the receptionist were both friendly and welcoming. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the sumptuous bed and fluffy pillows are of high quality and gave us both a fabulous night's sleep. The bathroom well equipped with Molton Brown hand wash, hand cream and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the very powerful shower cubicle. Each room has a kitchenette area and when we asked for extra tea bags the very friendly housekeeping lady gave us more than we needed. Our experience was made all the nicer given that my husband was celebrating a 'big' birthday and when we arrived in the room there were balloons on the bed and a very nice complimentary bottle of red with a card wishing him a happy birthday. Something else that we have never experienced in a hotel, especially a London one, is that every evening between 6-7pm the hotel offers free drinks (wine and prosecco). It just made for an even more fabulous stay and we loved it.

The position of this hotel is excellent for Covent Garden and the Strand theatres. We were seeing a show at the Adelphi and it was literally a 2 min walk from the hotel with another couple of theatres no more than a 5 min walk away. Covent Garden tube is around 7 mins and obviously you have every type of restaurant you can think of within minutes of the hotel. The Resident does not offer breakfast and we went to the Ivy Market Place which was lovely but there is an All Bar One nearer the hotel which does breakfast somewhat cheaper than the Ivy which we would probably use next time.

The overall experience at this hotel was nothing short of phenomenal! Let me break out down quickly in a few key areas:

Location; Absolutely great for getting around the city as the Tube has many stops just a short walk away in all directions. The hotel is also walking distance to a lot of major sites as well so you can plan some days where you are in walking distance of the hotel and others where you use the tube as both are viable options.

Room: Our room was very clean and the bed both my friend and I said was one of the comfiest we had slept in and were sad when it was time to leave. The bathroom had a rainfall shower which had great water pressure. One of the drawers you think is a closet actually had a nice perk which was a little kitchenette and what made it even better was the Britta specific attachment to get filtered water without even having to leave your room. The overall size of the room was a little on the smaller side but we had expected that and the other features definitely made up for it.

Staff: Could not have been friendlier always asking us if we needed help, directions, suggestions as well as greeting us with a smile always upon us arriving back from our daily activities.

Amenities: We did not take much advantage of these actually but one thing we did love is that every day from 6-7 PM they had a free happy hour with red wine and prosecco which was a nice treat for us as we looked forward to it and allowed us to meet some of the other people staying in the hotel as well.

Again overall if you are looking for a great option that will not break the bank I highly recommend you look into The Resident Covent Garden!

It is fantastic to read that we made a lasting impression for you and your friend. We stayed at the Resident Covent Garden for 4 nights at end of January. We booked a junior Suite with balcony. The room was situated in the back of the building and had a lovely balcony. It was very quite (absolutely no street noise). The room was very comfortable (beds and pillows were excellent) and nicely appointed with a couch and chair, coffee table and a small dining table with seating. The bathroom was enormous and had an amazing soaker tub. We appreciated the small kitchenette (Nespresso machine, kettle, microwave, sink and dishes), which made morning and evening tea easy. I guess the only complaint I have is that the hairdryer is tethered to the drawer in the closet in the hallway in front of the bathroom. This made drying my hair a little awkward, but not a game changer to have ruined our stay!

The staff was great, everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is well situated within easy walking distance of two tube stations, lots of pubs and restaurants and shops. It is also within close proximity (walkable) to most of the usual tourist attractions. The only time we took public transport was to visit the London Tower. Everything else was within a 15-20 minute. We even walked to the Apollo Victoria Theatre (30 minutes) to catch Wicked.

Dear Donaldlee117, Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such wonderful and detailed feedback following your visit to The Resident Covent Garden. As you noted, all our 57 stunning rooms are equipped with a Mini-Kitchen including a kettle, Brita filtered water, good selection of tea, mini fridge and my personal favourite the Nespresso coffee machine. I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we can also source groceries you might want in your larder fridge next time you stay with us, simply let us know in the pre arrival and we will support your healthy habits. Thank you for your lovely comments about the team. At The Resident Covent Garden we always aim at providing heartfelt advise to our guests and I have passed on your amazing feedback to the team as well. It was a pleasure hosting you and we would love to see you all again the next time you visit London for another fabulous stay! Kind regards, Patricia Hotel Manager

If you're looking for a comfortable, spotless hotel in a fantastic location, The Resident Covent Garden is perfection. My husband and I just spent 10 nights in London for Christmas and The Resident Covent Garden fit our every need. We had great communication with them from the time of our initial booking up until the night we had to check in late due to flight delays. The front desk staff always had a friendly greeting for us and are an excellent resource for information on sights and travel using public transit. They even hung a small basket of candy on our door Christmas morning - such a thoughtful touch. The room was plenty spacious and we loved having a small refrigerator and a Nespresso machine for delicious morning coffee. There was daily housekeeping too, which is hard to find anymore. One thing I thought was great was the availability of an in-room hairdryer that is full size/full strength, not the usual low wattage travel hair dryer most hotels carry. I also recommend this hotel for the great location - it's near two Tube stations (Charing Cross and Embankment) and a third station, Covent Garden, is just a .2 mile walk. There is also a public bus station across the street, all of which made transit to any location very easy. The Strand has numerous eateries and shops nearby and despite being on a main roadway, there was minimal noise at night, which was great. We will definitely stay here again for future London trips!

This was the perfect hotel to stay in for a couple of nights in London. It was our first time visiting London and The Resident is in the perfect area, a walk a way from a number of amazing cafes and restaurants as well as the West End and some amazing museums and galleries. The staff were so accomodating and made sure we had everything we needed for the duration of our stay. The room was well equipped with a small kitchenette and microwave and the bathroom came stocked with very nice shower essentials. The windows were triple glazed so no sound travels from the busy streets. Overall The Resident was perfect for our stay and I would strongly recommend staying here while visiting London!

I had a great experience from start to finish. The staff were warm and welcoming, with a professional and efficient service. Sizewise the (upgraded) room perfectly suited my needs, with a large bed, balcony view and an ingenious compact kitchenette next to the wardrobe. The brita filtered tap water and Molton Brown dispensers in the bathroom were an especially nice touch.

I intend to stay again.

Upon our arrival through the unassuming hotel entrance, we were met at the reception by the delightful smiling faces of Patricia, the manager and her colleague Arfa. The hotel reception is particularly bijou and compact but the hotel has a heart and warmth that creates happiness.

This ethos obviously emanates from the friendly Patricia who within 30 seconds of our arrival was talking to us like a good friend, and sharing her thoughts and feelings freely.

During our brief stay, we had further contact with the charming young lady, Arfa, who was always professional, polite and personable. She obviously loved her work, and spoke highly of her Resident family and recommended other hotels in the capital, as well as Edinburgh and Liverpool. If they are as amazing as their Covent Garden sister hotel, we would be pleased to give them a try.

The Covent Garden iteration only opened in 2019, and with the enforced closures during the pandemic it still feels new and fresh. The rooms are stylish and immaculately clean, with simple touches which elevate them amongst similarly priced hotels, such as a Paul Smith angle poise lamp, the mini-kitchen hidden within a wardrobe and the extremely comfortable beds.

The Resident doesn’t have a restaurant but that is not a problem at all, the hotel is within walking distance of literally dozens of eateries of every style and price point. The fact that it is ideally situated for many of the west end shows in the busiest part of London is also the reason why traffic noise and strident emergency vehicles manage to infiltrate the triple glazing, it didn’t keep us awake however it was an underlying background
Irritation. I fully understand that compromises need to be made when staying in a hotel within any capital city.

The Resident offers discounts to repeat guests so if we needed a reason to return, which we don’t, then that would certainly entice us back to share the warmth and character of the Resident, Covent Garden. Book it, you can pay much more elsewhere, or book here and luxuriate in the knowledge that it’s money well spent. Enjoy.

Dear TheWTandNBTT, Now that is such an amazing review to read! :) Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a wonderful and detailed 5* review on TripAdvisor and for sharing your positive feedback with other travellers. It is lovely to learn that we exceeded your expectations. The hotel was designed with our guests in mind by creating spaces that are both cosy and comfortable as well as giving a relaxing atmosphere. I am happy the room was to your satisfaction: everything in the room from the fabrics to furniture and bedding is all British made. With regard to our location, I could not agree more with you, it is simply perfect! We are blessed to be located in the heart of London, very close to many restaurants, bars, shopping options and some of London TOP attractions! This is one of the reasons why we have purposely not sought to include bars or restaurants in our hotels because we can therefore create your own home from home and a relaxed enclave within a thriving locality that is yours and ours. An enclave where we can offer heartfelt advise to our guests and provide a memorable stay for them. So glad our location was perfect for your needs! TheWTandNBTT, thank you for your heartfelt comments about the team. Arfa joined The Resident Covent Garden team a few months ago and she truly is a star⭐. Thank you for mentioning her- I will make sure your kind comments are passed on. Hospitality is in the heart of everything that we do and I am so proud to be a part of this hard working team! Thank you again for your kind words, I really hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Patricia Hotel Manager

This place was absolutely wonderful, and you won’t regret staying here! It was easy to reach—we took a train and the tube from Gatwick, followed by a short walk. The staff was delightful, greeting us with smiles and even a handwritten card, which made us feel truly welcome. Every time we came and went, their warm hospitality made us feel at home.

The location was excellent, within walking distance of many attractions we wanted to visit. It was also close to the tube, making it easy to explore further. There were plenty of restaurants nearby, giving us great dining options throughout our stay.
The room had a coffee maker, sink, microwave, mini fridge, iron hair dryer and a makeup mirror. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. The room was small but we'll set up.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience. The combination of convenience, friendly service, and a prime location made it a perfect choice. We highly recommend it!

I stayed here while in town to run London Marathon, and it was the perfect spot — so many transportation options a short walk away. One hour on the Tube from Heathrow, easy ride (one transfer) to ExCeL for the expo, 25-minute train ride from Charing Cross to Blackheath for the race start, less than a mile's walk back from the finish. The staff were all friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional, and the room was clean, comfortable, and astoundingly quiet at night, especially given the busy location. Loved the giant, fluffy bath towels and the deep tub for a post-race soak. We really appreciated the kitchenette and the offer to prestock the fridge, and the Nespresso machine was a great convenience, though there are lots of coffee shops around. The area has numerous restaurants of many kinds of cuisine, from fast food to upscale, and lots of theatres — could easily go to a different show and eat a different kind of food at every meal for at least a week! The hotel is walking distance to the Royal Opera House, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, London Transport Museum, and British Museum, as well as pharmacies, grocery stores, gift shops, a post office, and Covent Garden Market. Only one very small nitpick — my sister and I had a room with two twin beds, and they were pushed together, so we pulled them apart slightly. Whenever the room was serviced, the beds were pushed back together, which we found a bit odd. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

We stayed at this hotel only a few nights, and it was best choice as we wanted to explore main London’s attractions without spending much time travelling by metro or buses.
Small gem in a safe Covent Garden area, very pleased with their facilities, nicely surprised with Molton Brown products in a shower, good cleaning service, a big plus was a kitchen unit supplied with everything we needed to prepare ourselves good breakfast or lunch, even a microwave was provided!
They don’t offer breakfast but it was even a plus as we could get fantastic pastries, waffles and sandwiches from many cafes just around the corner.

A nice surprise was a happy hour they provided every day for their guests!

Dear Steven, Thank you for your question. Our rooms are equipped with a Mini-Kitchen including a kettle, Brita filtered water, good selection of tea, mini fridge and Nespresso coffee machine. We have purposely not sought to include bars or restaurants in our hotels because we can therefore create your own home from home and a relaxed enclave within a thriving locality that is yours and ours. Our team can provide you with heartfelt advice to visit London's TOP attractions as well as restaurants and bars recommendations. I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that we can also source groceries you might want in your larder fridge next time you stay with us, simply let us know in the pre arrival and we will support your healthy habits. Kind regards, Patricia Hotel Manager

Dear ClaudiacV, Thank you for your question. We have purposely not sought to include bars or restaurants in our hotels because we can therefore create your own home from home and a relaxed enclave within a thriving locality that is yours and ours. An enclave where we can offer heartfelt advise to our guests and provide a memorable stay for them. However, we can deliver breakfast to your room from a fantastic restaurant located just a few steps away from our hotel. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we also have a menu with selected drinks and snacks that our guests can enjoy during their stay with us. I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you to The Resident Covent Garden soon. Kind regards, Patricia Hotel Manager
