I have stayed at The Stafford on more than one occasion and I am never disappointed by the first class service. From the moment I arrived I enjoyed a 5 star experience. A personal welcome as I was checking in. A stunning bedroom with an exquisite bathroom. The bed and pillows allowed for the best nights sleep I have enjoyed...

The American Bar never fails to please. The ambiance is fantastic the staff are really so experienced and attentive in a very discreet manner. To serve your food up on a deluxe tray is just great presentation and food matches the standard of this location

Dear Robert M The American Bar is iconic and is the heart and soul of the hotel, with it's extensive collection of memorabilia from our clients amassed over the past 50 years. Benoit and his team are famed for their martinis and the atmosphere is very relaxed and convivial. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Stuart

Did not stay at this hotel, just merely used its restaurant for a business lunch with one of my clients. My client and I were most suitably impressed. Beautiful décor and the staff were very professional and helpful. The food was absolutely first class and the wine cellar extensive. Will definitely be returning soon. It should be noted however, I...

Dear Nigel T I am delighted you enjoyed an excellent lunch in The Lyttelton. We are very excited about the launch of our brand new restaurant, The Game Bird , scheduled to open mid March. Stayed a night in the Stafford in a beautiful room in the Mews Suites , the staff were very efficient but also smiley and helpful. We had a drink in the American Bar before going out for dinner and felt we would have liked to stay there all night and had supper on a tray as other residents were doing....

Difficult to review. A very well known and established hotel originally a luxury Georgian town house. One hopes for a sense of intimacy over a large hotel and to a degree get it. Quiet, elegant but comfortable, handsome (and well-equipped) rooms, good food, great bar. And then there's the charming mews in back, with its semi-secret exit onto St. James's Street -- with The Wolseley, Wilton's, and Chutney Mary's within blocks.

Our first visit to London -- The Stafford was as much a highlight as many of the famous places to see! Every employee we encountered throughout our stay seemed genuinely happy and eager to assist us with whatever we needed. Whether it was directions, a cab, a knife & plate to slice cheese we'd purchased from a local shop, or...

The Stafford is a peaceful and charming base ideally situated in St James'. The building is elegant and yet homely, with supremely comfortable rooms prepared for your "overnight" as though by your private "maid". The front of house staff are calm and clearly very knowledgeable, with the ability to conjour up taxis out of nowhere. And, they look, to see...

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Stafford London is a leading five star hotel in London and defines all that is quintessentially British. Located in the historical neighbourhood of St James's, it is set in a discreet and prestigious location beside the Royal Green Park. Opened as a hotel in 1912 and rich in history since the 1700s, it offers luxurious rooms and dining with an award winning, personalised guest service. The famous American Bar with floor to ceiling memorabilia and 380-year-old wine cellars are a sight to behold. Make sure to ask for a tour of the cellars and the in-house museum; the wine cellars doubled as a bomb shelter during WWII. ... more   less
