Extremely poor service and time whilst at the hotel. First the kettle was half full of water, which a basic room cleanliness and hygiene standard. Most basic hotels get this basic fundamental correct, so why couldn't the exclusive "Ritz" London. My second issue was the lack of service. My stay was a succession of waiting to be served, the staff...

My husband whisked me off to The Ritz for an evening of glitz, cocktails and fabulous food .. the dress etiquette makes it a very traditional formal setting, and gives it a very classy edge over other London establishments. The service was impeccable, the food excellent and the cocktails most agreeable! The additional attention to detail - my personalised birthday...

Took my Mum and Sister here to celebrate their birthday's. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional, and the glass panelled surroundings were stunning. Lunch was very good, the fish and the roast beef (served table side) were excellent. A nice touch after dessert when my Mum and Sister were presented with some cakes and happy birthday written in chocolate....

My wife and I had lunch in the restaurant and were blown away. The setting is just out of this world and takes you back in time. The food was good with the highlights being the snacks. Salmon macaroon was very good. My wifes fish was overcooked but apart from that excellent. The service was the winner. Juillene the sommelier...

We were given a present of Champagne Tea to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary and we were excited to be going to such a well known, iconic hotel and restaurant in the heart of London. However, to be absolutely honest, it was a disappointment! We felt the service from beginning to end was impersonal and unwelcoming. The 'tea times' are...

The Ritz offers everything you would expect from such an iconic London landmark. I took my mother for an early Mother's day present (great excuse for me to be involved too!!). The service from the minute you walk through the doors is superb. The staff are friendly, approachable and respectful in every way. It is always a little daunting entering...

What can you expect from this Ritz? Perfection. Sophisticated and professional staff are here to make your stay smooth and pleasant. Concierge is great and the room was beautiful and very comfortable. Very close to the theaters of London, which is a must if you're coming to London. Overall great place and very accommodating. Worth every penny.

Wonderful 50th birthday surprise. Could not fault anything. Staff superb throughout, incredible rooms and food. Loved, loved, loved it. So special when the staff shared in keeping the Ritz Rolls Royce a secret. We travelled to see Les Mis in style. Thinking of staying here for a treat? Just do it.. you won't be disappointed. Afternoon tea wonderful too. Christmas...

Went here with my partner for his birthday and I was overwhelmed by the service! The food was like nothing I've ever had before. The staff were extremely attentive and I felt like a princess! The wine waiter in particular was very knowledgeable.

No tunes and lacking Northern hospitality. Not a patch on the Ritz in Brighouse. Very disappointing that the only talc was in the bedroom not ballroom. (The biscuits in the room were not a patch on the Ritz biscuits you get in the supermarket).

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Opened by renowned hotelier Cesar Ritz in 1906, The Ritz today still retains all the glamour and excitement synonymous with this world famous hotel. Perfectly located in a landmark position on Piccadilly in the heart of London's West End, the 136 room luxury hotel is ideally placed to suit both business and leisure visitors alike. Now totaling 111 bedrooms and 25 suites, the elegant rooms combine the original Louis XVI style interiors with modern day technology. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful rooms in the world, The Ritz Restaurant features a magnificent frescoed ceiling with west facing windows overlooking the Terrace, the Italian Garden and Green Park beyond. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with a Dinner Dance on Friday and Saturdays. The Palm Court restaurant offers, most famously, daily Afternoon Tea service which has been popular since the hotel first opened. The stylishly updated Rivoli Bar was designed by Tessa Kennedy and features Art Deco styled interiors. Open daily with a bar menu. Private dining facilities at William Kent House, the 18th century mansion house at The Ritz, include an exquisite selection of banquet rooms and suites. Possibly the most elegant and opulent private rooms in London, William Kent House offers the perfect venue for private receptions, weddings, boardroom meetings, lunches, dinners and gala events. The Ritz London is a Grade II star listed building and in 2002 became the first hotel to receive the Royal Warrant from his Royal Highness The Prince of Wales for banqueting and catering services. ... more   less
