Although rated very good, I had expected this would achieve an excellent rating as I had booked adjoining suites for myself and my son as a treat for my birthday however there were some disappointments along the way! Firstly, the room wasn't ready on arrival in the afternoon despite they had asked me twice to confirm my arrival time, I...

We had been given a voucher for afternoon tea as we had told the young that we were looking for experiences not things for gifts at Christmas and birthdays. Well they certainly found a good one here and we used it for our 45th wedding anniversary. Of course we were full of excited anticipation, consequently we arrived an hour early...

My husband was turning a big number and wanted to be out of the country to celebrate his birthday… so he booked the trip and we stayed at the Ritz for one week… It started out a little rocky ...our room wasn't ready and we had to wait over an hour… I did complain a little and they more than...

Called reception at 4:30pm to request our room to be serviced whilst we were out shopping. Also left the service notice on the door. On our return at 7:30pm we were very disappointed to find our room had not been cleaned. We needed to get ready for dinner, therefore needed fresh towels and replacement toiletries. When we called reception we...

Once upon a time, The Ritz was the benchmark of London glamour. Sadly, now it's a faded, grotty shadow of its former self - fraying at the edges and staffed by rude, patronising people who wouldn't understand customer service if it came in, smiled, and asked them for directions. Everything is overpriced (the bar is a joke, the food in...

Used an offer from a Sunday paper for a 3 course meal with champagne on arrival - xmas present for partner and for me great way to end the day following running the marathon. Excellent evening with superb food and service Well worth the deal - although wine is not cheap!! ... and we also had cocktails in the Rivolli...

Classic afternoon tea experience in a beautiful setting. Birthday present was received well! Endless supplies of cakes, sandwiches, scones and tea. Don't fill up on too much tea or like me you run out of room for much food! Expensive but totally worth it for the experience and would highly recommend. I can't wait to do it again!

I went to the Ritz yesterday for a birthday tea with my husband. It was disappointing from first to last. The furniture was tired with chair fabric in dire need of a clean, even the carpet to the toilets was badly stained. High tea is like a machine. The room was packed and everyone was served in one sitting on...

Spacious lounge and very comfortable. Nice welcome with excellent cocktails and nibbles. Service was smart and attentive. It was lovely to listen to the piano. We entered by the side entrance. Toilets are on the lower floor and are spacious and clean with an attendant.

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Opened by renowned hotelier Cesar Ritz in 1906, The Ritz today still retains all the glamour and excitement synonymous with this world famous hotel. Perfectly located in a landmark position on Piccadilly in the heart of London's West End, the 136 room luxury hotel is ideally placed to suit both business and leisure visitors alike. Now totaling 111 bedrooms and 25 suites, the elegant rooms combine the original Louis XVI style interiors with modern day technology. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful rooms in the world, The Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant features a magnificent frescoed ceiling with west facing windows overlooking the Terrace, the Italian Garden and Green Park beyond. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with a Dinner Dance on Friday and Saturdays. The Palm Court restaurant offers, most famously, daily Afternoon Tea service which has been popular since the hotel first opened. The stylishly updated Rivoli Bar was designed by Tessa Kennedy and features Art Deco styled interiors. Open daily with a bar menu. Private dining facilities at William Kent House, the 18th century mansion house at The Ritz, include an exquisite selection of banquet rooms and suites. Possibly the most elegant and opulent private rooms in London, William Kent House offers the perfect venue for private receptions, weddings, boardroom meetings, lunches, dinners and gala events. The Ritz London is a Grade II star listed building and in 2002 became the first hotel to receive the Royal Warrant from his Royal Highness The Prince of Wales for banqueting and catering services. ... more   less
