Thistle Piccadilly Hotel enjoys a prime location in the heart of the city, praised by guests for its proximity to attractions and dining options. However, some travelers criticize the value for money, pointing to high rates and average room quality. The atmosphere is generally appreciated, especially for special occasions, but there are calls for updates. While the rooms are deemed comfortable, there are mixed reports on maintenance and amenities. Service quality varies, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with housekeeping inconsistencies. Despite the vibrant surroundings, noise levels remain surprisingly low.

We stayed here for one night with friends for a midweek London theatre break and couldn't fault it.
The location is excellent for most West End attractions. Due to the pandemic we weren't keen on using the tube but Chinatown, theatre land, Trafalgar Square are all within easy walking distance and the multi storey car park just a few doors down offers a twenty per cent reduction for Thistle guests.
The foyer is small and unpretentious but the welcome was both warm and professional and despite official check in being at 3pm we were given immediate access to our rooms two hours ahead of the appointed time.
Our standard double on the third floor was compact but certainly not cramped. The kingsize bed was extremely comfotable (extra pillows were available in the wardrobe) and facilities included tea and coffee making equipment, a hairdryer and ironing board. Everything was spotlessly clean and the sound proofing meant there was absolutely no traffic noise.
The only slight inconvenience was that breakfast had to be taken at the sister Thistle Hotel down the street - no great problem as it was a bright, dry, sunny morning but could have been a different story in wet weather! Breakfast at the Thistle Trafalgar Square was however more than acceptable with a good buffet selection of both English and continental choices and again, the staff were extremely welcoming and professional.
For sheer value for money in this location the hotel would be hard to beat and we look forward to many return visits!

This hotel was great, and that was mainly down to Elizabeth. Who I believe was duty manager during our stay.
My wife and I haven't been anywhere apart from our flat and work since January due to Covid. I fall into the vulnerable category so it's been very difficult.
We were going stir crazy and after having to cancel 3 mini breaks to other places we thought popping on the train for an hour and visiting London was a good idea. I was extremely cautious and worried about traveling and the hotel. But my wife was ok and she said we needed to look at a different 4 walls, lol. Took us ages to pick a hotel and I'm so glad we picked this one.
Upon arrival I was very nervous and Elizabeth was amazing. She put my mind at ease discussing all the extra cleaning they do, the extra pillows are stored in plastic sealed bags and are cleaned after every stay etc. We had a great chat at check in and she made me a little more relaxed about it all.
She also sprinkled our stay with some incredible customer service, when we asked if we could pay for an upgrade to get a room with a bath (if available) she gifted it to us. I was so overwhelmed I cried, haha!! Very lame I know but it's been a very difficult time for my wife and I and her kindness meant alot to me.
The room was spotless, even though i gave it a quick clean of my own it didn't need it. (For my own mental well-being I had to give it a quick sanitise) the bed was huge!! The TV was massive to. There was a 2 person couch which was the best seat ever, loved it. Great desk and chair to, which I used my laptop on.
In the wardrobe there was plenty of space and hangers. There was a hair dryer, ironing board and iron, extra pillows and bedding. Also a mini fridge with some complimentary soft drinks and water.
The bathroom was very spacious, wonderful bath, 2showers, one on the ceiling which was fine, but the other one on the wall that could be taken off and handheld was alot better. Great temp dial as well.
We spent the majority of our time in the room and just went out to get food. Couldn't have asked for a better room to be in.
Thankyou Elizabeth, you have made us feel a bit more 'normal' again. Lol
We will definitely be back to stay again without a shadow of a doubt. Highly recommend :-)

Centrally located in Leicester Square, very short walk from the tube station.
Reception was very welcoming, adhering to COVID standards.
The staff very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean in every way, tea and coffee provided, with ironing board, iron, hair dryer and smart TV. The view over Leicester Square was brilliant, and there was very minimal outside noise considering we were in a central location.
The bed was SO comfortable!! We had to prise ourselves out of it in the morning, so we could shower in the lovely super powered shower.
Then off for breakfast, which was superb. Cereal, fruit juices, and fruit, or a freshly cooked breakfast or an excellent cold selection too.
The cold smoked mackerel was delicious.
The staff were very friendly, attentive, offering extra tea, coffee and the empty plates swiftly cleared away.
On departure after checking out we were allowed to leave our suitcase in the safe hold ( up until midnight) before setting off on our journey home.
We had a wonderful and safe stay at Thistle Piccadilly we will 100% be returning.

We chose this hotel due to its central location its right in the middle of Theatreland and a short stroll to many of the iconic sights of London.
Upon arrival the lobby is small with two receptionists and we were checked in promptly. Our room - a junior suite was way smaller than we anticipated and the photo on the website is much more complimentary. Upon checking into our room we found the room cold. To our surprise the heating didn’t work and apparently this was a problem on the whole of the second floor. I was surprised that we were booked into a room with no heating, given the staff knew of this problem. Initially we were offered a heater as a solution. Not satisfied with this we had to request a move to a room where the heating worked. This was granted and we quickly were moved to another floor. (No help was offered with the move to a new room).
The furniture in the junior suite was somewhat old and a little tatty, which is a shame.
The bathroom was well equipped and the shower was nice and powerful.
The toiletries were on the budget side and the towels were not fluffy and looked well worn. The room comes with a fridge and some free soft drinks and a one tin of gin and tonic. There is a Nespresso Machine with 3 complimentary pods, plus a kettle with tea making facilities. There is a Tesco metro nearby and this was handy to purchase some fresh milk, fruit and snacks and another tin of gin and tonic.
We didn’t try the breakfast as their are so many restaurants open nearby.
On a few occasions Taxis found the Hotel difficult to find due to the address being Coventry Street and the entrance being on Whitcomb Street.
Overall we found the service could improve and were disappointed with the quality and size of the junior suite. The Hotel is in a very convenient location for Theatre-land, Chinatown and Trafalger square etc.

We welcome all guest feedback as it enables us to continually strive for service excellence in order to improve and maintain our high standards. Our location is indeed superb and it was great to read that our shower met your expectations. Thank you for filling out our guest survey during your stay with us, this enhances our guest stay and for us to communicate with our reception team. It was a pleasure speaking with at the time and ensuring your new room was up to your expectations. Please accept my apologies for the heating issues that you experienced during your stay. Whilst this was an unfortunate experience to witness I am glad to know that the team had reacted promptly to the very unexpected situation. I am happy to advise that this unexpected issue has already been fully rectified. It is clear that we fell short in a number of areas and I apologise that your stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been. Again, many thanks for sharing this valuable feedback with us. So, the Thistle. It’s in a good location, right across from Chinatown, adjacent to Leicester Square, a bit north of Trafalgar Square, and a bit south of Covent Garden. We were in room 403, a deluxe king, which I thought was rather small for being deluxe, though the bathroom and shower were spacious. The bed was pretty hard, which was fine for us, but could be an issue for others. The pillows felt cheap. One major problem for me was the very thick quilt. I like a cooler room, but if I kept it on, I’d wake up in a sweat. It wasn’t a problem for my wife, who is always cold, but who needs a quilt in the summer? Blankets would have been better so there could be some adjustments made. And no matter what I did, I couldn’t get the room temperature down. Sometimes turning the unit off then on again would get it to run, but not for long enough to cool things down. There’s a lower limit and management has decided that sweating is good for you.

Speaking of the shower, lots of very hot water and great pressure, but the door didn’t seal properly and flooded the floor. Someone came quickly to mop it all up, and promised to come back the next day to fix it, but never did. So a nice big shower that you couldn’t really enjoy because you had to be so careful not to flood the room. Also, shampoo and body wash, but no conditioner, and no wash cloths. Using a large hand towel seemed impractical, so I have no idea what management could have been thinking.

A few other bits. Wi-Fi was pretty fast and stable, but I couldn’t find any USB ports. Rooms seemed to be pretty soundproof, as we didn’t hear anything on either side of us. Nespresso machine, but only two pods, and you couldn’t use it if one of you were still sleeping because it made a lot of noise. There was a kettle also, with instant coffee, teas, and two little biscuits, and two free bottles of water each day. They had a full English breakfast, but the food wasn’t all that good.

All the staff we dealt with were courteous and helpful. Would I stay here again? Good question. Maybe a different room would have made things much better.

I choose it for the great location and quality of service and I found a room without heating end of Jan, no maintenance available and a low ceiling room claustrophobic room offered as a solution. I preferred to stay at my with the normal ceiling and two extra heaters. What a lovely situation in a 4star hotel!!! The general condition of the hotel is under serious discussion as it was a 4star hotel 10year back maybe but not now for sure. Carpets have stain through all these years, mirror in Junior suite was rusted and shower door was leaking water to the bathroom tails .

I chose this hotel for two main reasons: location (Piccadilly Circus) and air conditioning. It exceeded my expectations on both counts. Regarding the location, there are two subway stations and numerous city bus stops within a 3 minute walking radius as well as innumerable restaurants and theaters nearby. The air conditioning was excellent and it would cool off the room within a few minutes after returning a full day of sightseeing in the summer. I was also pleasantly surprised by how well the permanently-shut windows soundproofed the room - I never heard any of the raucous crowds or street hawkers just outside the hotel. There was an ample wardrobe, a laptop safe, and a mini refrigerator - all of which made my stay quite comfortable.

On the negative side, there were a couple of occasions when the water pressure fell in the faucets. Fortunately, it did not affect me too much for it came back up again fairly quickly and I was the only occupant. Also, there is precious little storage space in the bathroom for the toiletries. But both of these were minor problems.

Check-in was quick and friendly, with very good Covid-19 protocols in place. We were given an upgraded room with a good view and more space, and permitted to check-in early. The room was pleasant, not high luxury in presentation, but the bed was excellent and the room had a bath too, which was unexpected. Staff were always friendly, professional and helpful throughout our stay and we were able to leave out luggage after we checked out on the final day, while we went out for lunch. The best part of the hotel is the location, which was in a short walking distance of a lot of the places we wanted to visit, easy access to the Piccadilly line via the underground, and bus stops near by too. We have had some poor experiences in hotels in London, so wish we had discovered this one sooner. We would definitely stay again.

We stopped here recently for 2 nights in a standard double including breakfast. It's located mid-way between Piccadillly and Leicester Square, on Coventry Street, so a great location for this part of London with its many attractions. Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Horseguards, St James Park, the River Thames and the London Eye are all within walking distance as are many London Theatres or if you prefer, several bus routes and 2 tube stations are on the doorstep; all in all a fantastic location.
Our room was clean and comfortable with a smart TV and bathroom (shower, basin and WC) which was equipped with toiletries and a hairdryer. The room had nice decor and whilst not the largest room I have ever stayed in, it wasn't small either by London hotel room standards and for 2 of us it was absolutely fine and provided sufficient comfort and space.
Our rate included a buffet breakfast, which we found very acceptable in terms of quality and choices of hot and cold food. Not the biggest breakfast buffet I have ever experienced, bit perfectly acceptable. If breakfast isn't included in your rate, rather than pay the hotel add-on price, I would suggest McDonalds across the road or other eateries who do breakfast.
We would happily stop here again and can recommend to others.
