The façade is superb. The entrance, staircase, main banqueting rooms brim with décor, history and atmosphere. The rooms are very disappointing and in need of upgrading. The quality of fittings and furniture, functionality of equipment all very poor and not what you would expect from a hotel of this standing. The staff are excellent and friendly and the restaurant service...

It was my first stay at this nice oldfashioned hotel. The building is impressive in its architecture, both outside and inside. Definitely worth the price paid. Efficiant staff, at both reception and breakfast room. Rooms are in good condition, although some furniture needs to be replaced over the next years. Beds are comfortable and gives a good nights sleep. Breakfast...

I was booked in here by work for a week, we normally use a different brand (and will in the future) according to the reception I did not have a reservation when I tried to check in (despite having paperwork to prove it), so I had to secure the room on my credit card, the reception staff made me feel...

Beautiful exterior when we have passed the building in the past we thought we must stay there.. The reception staff were warm and welcoming, quick and efficient .We arrived when a fete was going on in the park opposite with jazz music, the windows are old in character with the building but it was very noisy, along with the traffic.......

I stayed on business for one night. I was a litte concerned about mixed reviews, but have to say the room was beautiful. Check in was efficient and friendly and the general feel of the hotel was lovely. There were two things that stopped me giving this a 5/5. The first was road noise - boy does this hotel need...

Checked out today after spending an enjoyable weekend in London. Hotel is positioned in a convenient & brilliant location, close to major tube stations, and easy accessible to close proximity restaurants & venues. We had an upgrade to a larger room, so quiet & with a huge bathroom. The staff & concierge personnel gave 5 star customer service, quick &...

We stayed in Hotel Russel for three nights during part of our honeymoon in London. We arrived fairly early in the morning so we didnt expect that they would have our room ready, but to our surprise, they did. We made our way up to our room and upon first walking in it smelled very moldy. The wall opposite the...

I was booked into this hotel by my company travel co-ordinator. I just needed one night of accommodation while attending a meeting nearby. After seeing that it had recently undergone refurbishment, and the location, I thought it would be ok. The room was fine, for £200 it met my requirements. The problem was the road noise. I've stayed in Hilton...

The Hotel Russell was the most overpriced hotel I have stayed at, that is not to say there was anything seriously wrong, but for the nearly £300 per night (including breakfast) I’d have expected inordinately better. Things started well as they had a room available for me even though it was approximately two hours before check in. First impressions were...

Got a super good deal on this hotel since I booked on the day through a website. Booked a single and got upgrade to a double! Hotel was very grand, hotel rooms were a little worn, with out of date furniture and closet, but bathrooms were spotless and so were the bed sheets. Internet costing 15 pounds is a bit...

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
