The Bailey's Hotel London enjoys accolades for its charming atmosphere and prime location, well-regarded by guests for being across from Gloucester Road station and amidst various amenities. While the hotel's cleanliness and service often receive commendations, with the staff described as helpful and professional, some visitors have raised concerns regarding room size and dated decor.
Additionally, opinions diverge on the hotel's value, with a number of guests feeling the pricing is steep relative to the quality offered. Amenities garner mixed feedback, with the proximity to transportation highlighted as a definite plus.

Detailed Reviews
We came down to visit family and to celebrate. Gary and the other members of staff where absolutely phenomenal. Considering we are here during a global pandemic, the hotel has done its best to cater for us and ensure that everything is sanitised to a high standard.
The bar was open until 10pm (the new curfew) and the drinks are reasonably priced. The hotel is the perfect location with the tube station on the doorstep, Tesco, Waitrose, boots etc so it’s easy to nip out and get the essentials if you have forgotten them.
Lovely hotel, welcoming staff, would definitely come back again!
Just want to say also that Gary is a credit to the hotel, such a lovely, chatty gentleman that instantly makes you feel comfortable from the moment you step foot in the door.
Thank you.

We stayed here for three nights at the end of August. The hotel is ideally situated just opposite the Gloucester Road tube station. With COVID the restaurant and bar was not open but we were offered a “bag of breakfast goodies” we declined as there are an array of eateries in the location. The hotel is clean, reception staff very friendly and they have COVID proofed the hotel: interestingly some village idiot aka a guest was shouting at the reception team on one occasion saying the hotel did not comply with government guidelines - pile of nonsense, he just needed a good wash and gain some manners! I would not hesitate to to return here as:
1. Good location
2. Clean hotel room with air conditioning
3. Amazing staff
4. Tube station across the road
5. Complies with government regulations around COVID
Well done Bailey’s

Very customer-oriented place. Highly-recommended for everyone who's looking for a great place to stay in this part of UK. Ms. Joan Lagahit always sees to it that everything is covered and all guests have a great stay, where they'd feel always at home, away from home.

booked one of the big rooms, however was given a small one for the same amount and when i complained they insisted that is the same size and insisted that they don't have other rooms available but then at midnight magically a room appeared after hours of negotiations they moved me to the other room which was bigger and for the same price (photos attached to see the difference) but smelled so bad, this room didn't has lift access only the stairs, the room was so loud it felt like everyone on the corridor is setting with me . Terrible management and front disk they are so rude and insisted of correcting their mistakes they bully their guests. I didn’t feel safe at the hotel as there is a big staircase at the front door and anyone can get access to the floors (the card system in the lifts dos not work, when I asked they told me it was broke for a while). The breakfast was less than good, choices are limited and you have to pay extra for omelets or pancakes which was odd for the price they are charging already.

Our trip was also booked through Secret Escapes at £99 per night with breakfast for 2 included - fantastic value for London. Before we arrived I was impressed as I had made a mistake with dates for my booking and the hotel itself sorted this out and honoured the same prices for the next month. They were so helpful. In fact I really don't have the same experience with staff that so many reviewers have had. They were all very helpful and friendly at all times.
The room itself was a good size for London, very clean, very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is right across the road from Gloucester Rd tube station and across to the other side is a bus stop where you can get various on/off sightseeing buses. I used these and taxis to get around.
The only complaint was with breakfast on the first day. You are given a sheet to order breakfast and a time for it (Covid again!), which we did but when we got there we waited almost 3/4 of an hour before we got ours despite others coming in after us and getting theirs. We had appointments to get to so were a bit irritated by this but when we mentioned it they soon came. However the hash brown tasted uncooked and the bacon was hard so not sure what went wrong. BUT the next morning we had barely sat down before our breakfast arrived. Portions were too big for us but that depends on individuals appetites - what I consider too much is probably just right for someone else. Anyway there is plenty of choice and if it doesn't suit you there are plenty of places around to choose from. We didn't feel short changed on this as we were paying such a reasonable price for the room rate.
One thing to mention is that the reception desk do ask that you let them know if you want your room cleaned and made up. I imagine a lot of guests will have not wanted this service over the previous months. Its a good idea to let them know when you go out so they can organise this for you.
Overall we were very pleased with the hotel - it was good value for money and we will go there again if we need to be in this area of London. Brilliant for Kensington Palce, the V & A, Natural Museum and probably an awful lot more. Can't beat it for transport links either. Thank you Baileys!

Lovely refurbished and luxurious rooms in this really well situated hotel. Obviously given the pandemic there are certain restrictions, the main one being that no staff are permitted inside the rooms to clean (although this is across most hotels in UK it seems and is also completely understandable). However the very friendly and professional staff did constantly ensure that we had enough clean towels, shower gels etc. Complimentary masks and hand sanitiser are also stationed at the entrance to the hotel, which further proved the hotel's commitment to the well-being and safety of its customers and staff. Overall a great stay, with all the amenities of a luxury hotel that you would expect in the rooms, and I'm sure it will be even better when running fully normally!

After coming here for a dozen years I am greatly disappointed by this current 3 night stay. The hotel location is convenient but the room we paid just under £1,000 for our 3 night stay was disappointing. Here is a summary….
Curtains don’t close and one is clearly broken.
Bath plunger does not close
Handheld shower isn’t long enough so you crouch
If you go for breakfast after 9.30 be prepared to queue as under staffed.
Go for breakfast at 8am and staff are not clearing tables but still expect to ask for a hot drink.
You need to ask for a room service which means someone will bring new water bottles to your room and leave a pile of, I assume clean towels and bath Matt, on your unmade bed.
Complain to reception and don’t hear back
What is the £300 plus per night for exactly??? Sadly this will be our last stay at a hotel that we have used so many times and holds great memories.
Service has vanished - such a shame

Stayed 2 nights here for a weekend with my partner. The location was very good for what we had planned and parking next door made it even easier for us.
But by the evening we found Human Faeces in our bed after pulling the sheets back. When I went down and told the night manager he didn’t seem bothered. After 5 mins of telling him what I find he finally offered to change the bedding.
Then when the morning come we spoke to the manager who straight away tried to make out like it was our fault. Wasn’t apologetic or sincere for what had happened and tried to close the case very quickly with a simple £50 off of our stay.
By the evening I asked for an update from the cleaning company and was told the manager wouldn’t be in until the morning of our checkout. But a bit later on just before 10pm the manager rung my room phone and persisted to spend 15 mins arguing with me, talking rudely and persistently talking over me to the point I put the phone down in anger.
When the morning of our checkout came it was the same manager who the night before ruined my evening and spoke over me. Which she carried on doing at the front desk to the point I had to tell her to stop talking. Her constant response was to just close the case and accept the £50 with no apology. We then left and said we’d be speaking to somebody higher up.
Would not recommend unless you enjoy an argument and want dirty bedding.

Responded 9 Sept 2020
Dear TomCon1996 We have fully investigated this complaint and found no factual basis for it. We note that the same negative review has been posted at other leading hotel review sites and it is frustrating that at a time when hotels are working hard to compete for extremely limited business, a disgruntled customer may deploy a misleading review such as this which has the potential to significantly undermine the hard work of the hotel. The facts in this case are as follows: All linen at the Baileys Hotel is laundered by a reputable third party company that specialises in hotel laundry services. Freshly laundered and sanitised bed linen is wrapped in plastic film prior to delivery to the hotel. Our housekeepers who make-up our guest rooms will check the bed, mattress and all bedlinen prior to making up the bed. In this case, the two housekeepers who made up this customer’s room confirm that there was no issue with the bedlinen. In any case, the hotel immediately changed all linen on receipt of the customer’s complaint. The customer subsequently requested a complimentary (i.e. free) hotel stay which was declined on the basis that their claim was not verified or substantiated. We assume that their reviews are in retaliation to this. It should be noted that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, enhanced hygiene and cleaning measures have been implemented at all Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ properties, including the Baileys Hotel. This includes an extremely rigorous cleaning and hygiene programme (as well as follow up checks) to ensure a comfortable and safe stay for all our guests. For further details of our enhanced cleaning programme or our “We Care, We Clean, We Welcome” pledge, please visit our website (www.millenniumhotels.com/en/offers/global/wecleancarewelcome) or write to the Regional Director (UK & Europe), Millennium Hotels and Resorts, Scarsdale Place, Kensington, London W8 5SY.

Hotel is stunning, lovely old building that we found to be immaculately clean.
On approaching our room all the door handles in the corridor were covered in brass cleaner. No one to be seen and we did not notice until we had gone through doors which marked our clothing. No warning signs, great start.
Room very nice. Breakfast ok would have been better if it was hot and not Luke warm. Oh and the waiter constantly digging his ears out with his finger then proceeded to top up the jams and tidy the spoons on hot food. Needless to say I could not finish my breakfast.
Reception staff rude
Bar staff hopeless and extremely rude, can’t even make a cocktail. Complete drama over what goes into a cocktail. Missed ingredients as apparently “guests don’t like some ingredients so we don’t put them in” why are then on the menu then. I was handed a glass of champagne which the waiter argued with me that it was just champagne. It was cloudy and clearly had something added like pineapple. My friend ordered Kia royale which on menu states cassis (blackcurrant) it had chambord (strawberry) which she’s allergic to.
We returned to the bar after our show after another drama over drinks we sat with glasses of wine when our bill was thrown at us. No acknowledgement from the bar man at all. When we questioned we were told they close at 11pm! No apology just plain rude! Cannot believe a hotel in central London on a Saturday night with a full bar of guests turned other guests arriving away and basically threw us out.
Spoke to reception (he wasn’t as rude as the daytime staff) he explained it was all new staff who did not know the menu. Perhaps they should be trained then???
We really struggled to get the bar staff to understand us as they clearly had no concept or experience of bar work at all. Also training on customer service to all staff.
Slept well after visiting Burger King opposite. We had planned on room service but that shuts at 10pm!
We have a late checkout at 12 so we assumed we would get a lie in!
Nope our room opposite cleaning cupboard and staff do not know how to close a door. Apparently if you walk in or out of a room you slam the door behind you so no one gets a lie in. This went on for a good half hour.
We felt like we were inconveniencing the staff by being there and will not be returning.
I will say the concierge was lovely on our arrival. Gave great recommendations and extremely friendly. It’s a shame the hotel does not employ more staff like him.
Also the breakfast supervisor from Hong Kong was the only person who actually spoke and engaged with us.
Such a missed opportunity here.

A fantastic hotel brilliantly located in one of London’s fabulous historic buildings. Room’s are very individual and tastefully decorated and equipped with all that’s required for a very relaxing stay. Bathroom’s are modern and bright and offer high-quality personal extra’s and most importantly extremely efficient and easy to operate (unlike many hotel’s) shower’s to kick-start your day. The staff work extremely hard to meet your every need and make you feel at home none better than The Reception Team who have a great mix of professionalism and friendliness and offer the warmest of welcomes. For me The Bailey’s Hotel is the only hotel to stay at when visiting London.
