Arrived to be pleasantly greeted in the Foyer,Check in was smooth and hassle free. Decor was pleasant and the rooms clean and tidy and a nice personal feel to the service in the bar area. Breakfast the next morning was good, a nice selection. Check out easy with no fuss, Would return and would recommend.

This hotel has been my usual choice for the last few travels to London. And still no reason to change that: Very nice spacious room on tob floor (including view of the shard), comfy bed (two singles snapped together), good curtains, quiet, impecable room service, daily refill of minibar, walk-in shower, breakfast (included in my rate) ok, stable wi-fi (just...

We stayed for 3 nights in a standard double room. The room was quite small but it was very comfortable and had all services needed. It was really quiet as well with no traffic sounds as we were at the back of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is nicely presented with a good bar area...

Good location, close to tube and the Thames. Reception very trendy and welcoming. My room was one of the recently renovated ones so very comfortable. However, small enough but this is not surprising for a London hotel. Beware , if you are close to the staire way it may be noisey. Only issue was that there was limited bar staff....

This hotel was a disappointment straight off the bat! I've stayed in other Mercure hotels before and as an Accors hotel member i based my choice of hotel on past experiences of the Mercure brand. However this hotel let my faith in that hotel brand down somewhat. I had booked the Privilage double room (which they claim on the website...

Very nicely modernised Mercure hotel, Very clean, Very good staff, nice breakfast, standard rooms a little too small for Mercure hotels more like Ibis size, so go for a larger room if more than one person

I had stayed here before on business but brought the family back this time. Four of us in a room. Well appointed with coffee machine and good bathroom. Kids had a sofa and rollaway pushed together which wasn't too bad, but if you have 2 teenagers, I would suggest getting a second room as it was pretty cosy. We had...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
