How lovely to be upgraded to a single suite with a parliament and River Thames view...but making the window look special doesn't make the stay special. It's still a Marriott hotel at the end of the day. Just a quick glance at the room service menu will prove it. £8.50 for a cheese sandwich or £16 for fish and chips...

I recently spent Easter weekend in London and chose this hotel as a loyal Marriott person. The hotel itself is located in a perfect space, with the exception of the tacky London Dungeon and Aquarium at its foundation. The hotel offers fantastic views of Big Ben. The windows actually open slightly to allow some fresh air, but be prepared for...

Business trip February 2015, group bookings all went well in the sales office prior to the event and very helpful. Check in was slow and painful, my room was very dated and room service took and age to deliver. I had a pedicure but wish I hadn't have bothered. Following up with the hotel afterwards was good and they were...

We were treated to afternoon tea in the library room on Easter Sunday. The room is designed for each party to have a private area with cabinets of old books as partitioning. Most with the most spectacular view of the Thames and Embankment. Tea had a good choice of teas beautifully presented in little glass jars. The sandwiches scones and...

There is a very grand looking entrance to the hotel and the building itself is huge - it was about a 5 minute walk from the lift to my room. Bedroom was spacious but the decor seemed a little dated to me, although this may appeal as "traditional" to overseas visitors. Good service and overall a pleasant stay but nothing...

Situated right under the London eye, this hotel has the lovely old world charm of quintessential London town. Being an excellent pick up point for most day tours, the hop-on-hop-off bus services and close to Waterloo rail station and Westminster Underground, the location and architectural grandeur has everything going for it. Now to the not-so-good. The plumbing can be a...

I stayed here for 3 nights last week, it's the fourth or fifth time I've stayed here – unfortunately it was a wee bit disappointing this time. This, I would have admitted before this stay, was probably my hotel of choice in London - the location's great, with Waterloo tube/rail, Westminster tube nearby and bus stops on the main road...

I went to London in mid-March with my parents and we stayed here for one night. The hotel location is unbeatable; it has rooms that will accommodate 4 people in the same room, and it is beautifully decorated. The location of the Marriott is extremely convenient. Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
