The rooms are in dire need of renovation. They are well maintained but very old. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower water turned cold after 5 minutes, and never became hot again. This is more like a hostel than a hotel. For the price, there are much better options in the area.

Handy location near the tube station... This is probably the only positive i have to stay, check in was a mess three receptionists behind the desk just stood chatting ignoring myself and my partner. We then went up to the room, this was well after check in time at this point and the cleaner was still cleaning our room, that...

The Citadines Barbican London is approximately 150 yards from the underground. It is within walking distance of St Pauls Cathedral and many other attractions. It was a fantastic location for the 6 of us spending a weekend in London and because it is an Aparthotel it provides you with flexibility regarding eating in or out. Great for spending a few...

The rooms were very clean & spacious! I stayed 7 nights, so, it was great to have a kitchenette available & plenty of space to work and 'live'. The staff was helpful & the location worked well, close to the Tube station and within walking distance to several eateries.

The hotel looks tired from the outside and is tired on the inside, although it is currently undergoing a refurbishment the latest phase being the reception and ground floor areas, thus meant that there was no breakfast available in the hotel. However you do have a well equipped kitchenette to make yourself a basic meal. We were a party of...

Dear reviewer, Thank you for your feedback. In fact we are under refurbishment and we are doing our best to avoid any inconvenience to our customers. Our disabled rooms will be also refurbished and we will remove the bath to a shower. Also, we will share with our reception team your good words which help us to continue to improve...

The Citadines Barbican was a first for me - I hadn't stayed in a self-service apartment before, and it fairness, the room was clean and well stocked for this purpose. There was a dishwasher, cutlery and crockery and a hob and microwave. For tourists trying to save money, I think the Citadines would be a good choice - no need...

Dear Owen R, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are currently undergoing a full refurbishment to both our rooms and public areas. This will include a new dining concept for Citadines Barbican where we will work with an outside provider who will run a food outlet in our lobby area. We will then be able...

My visit was spoilt by the reception on arrival. The first thing we were told on arrival was that they didn't have a room for us. Although we managed to resolve the problem it gave a bad taste to the visit. Other than that it was a good venue.

Dear tristans172, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I was sorry to read about your recent experience. Indeed this is not the standard we strive to achieve and the necessary retraining will be done with the team members concerned. It's OK - the room smelt a bit odd, but nothing terrible. Has a proper kitchen area; a small bathroom; a good size bed. Towels are tiny and not great quality. Wifi was erratic. Wardrobe tiny and the hairdryer cannot be plugged in anywhere near a mirror. But it was quiet and felt very safe.

This is more of an apartment than a hotel. The room has a proper kitchen that contains pots, pans, dishes, flatware, all things one needs to cook. Microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher. The room is cleaned once a week - you can pay more to have it done more often. You are responsible for taking the garbage to the disposal in...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
