Hotels in London are very expensive and I was glad to find this inexpensive place in Central London. It is fairly basic accommodation, designed for students, but it is clean, comfortable, quiet and within walking distance of main central London attractions. We stayed as a family of four and got two rooms, a triple with in-suite shower and a single...

I stayed for one night here en route to a longer stay in the Bloomsbury area near Russell Square. I was impressed with how clean and quiet the hotel was. Staff was helpful. The bathroom/toliet and shower are shared. But they were very clean and secure. Each person just uses the toliet and shower one person at a time (with...

I've stayed at Vandon House several times now, when I don't feel like sharing a hostel dorm room. It's not a 5* hotel but doesn't claim to be--if you want that, the Crowne Plaza is right across the street for 10x the price. The location is terrific and the rooms are completely livable. They're dorm rooms; students live in them...

I needed a place to stay for one night, before heading to Brighton to meet up with spouse. I booked a single with a shared bath. The price was less than 50 pounds, and for London, that is a great deal! It was close to sights, Victoria Station, St. James Park. I was by myself, and felt very safe. The...

This hotel is a good place to stay if you are on a budget, everything in London is so expensive! It's a nice place that's clean, it's nothing fancy but you don't really spend too much time in the hotel anyways. The breakfast is pretty good just your basic toast, bagel, cereal, ham, cheese kind of set up but it's...

Vandon House is not a luxury hotel by any means, but the location is wonderful. It is close to St. James & Victoria Station underground, shopping, good restaurants (Nando's - the only place we found with unlimited drink refills) and within walking distance to Buckingham Palace. The students enjoyed the lounge where they could watch TV and access the internet....

First night had two double beds with ensuite bathroom. Very clean room and bathroom although both could use some updating. The second night only a single room was available with sink in the room and seperate toilet and separate shower in the hallway. Although I thought this would be a problem it was not. Need to bring your soap from...

We stayed 4 nights in a triple room in June. The room was spacious and clean, but more like a dormitory room rather than a hotel room. It was hot during our visit and we had to open the windows at night. Luckily, we read reviews before our stay and we did bring ear plugs! Even so, we woke up...

I paid 99 pounds for a triple ... by far the best deal I found for our family trip to London. The room had 3 single beds, plenty of space and a large old-fashioned bath tub. No shower, however. The breakfast was adequate and included fruit, cereal, yogurt, cheese, and basic bread and croissants. They have easy to use and...

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
