The signature suite on the first floor of the hotel was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and big, the room was large and it had one of the best bathrooms I've ever experienced at a hotel.

The shower cabinet was large and comfortable, with both a rainwater shower and a hand shower. The choice of which shower to activate worked with dedicated buttons, which I found very efficient and user-friendly. Due to the large size of the shower cabinet, there was no risk of getting surprised by too cold or too warm a water, as one was able to stand beside the running water until the temperature was suitable. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to test the bathtub, which looked very tempting indeed, with a small TV screen and everything.

The toilet was in the bathroom, but separated in its own space by a door. The toilet bowl was very high tech and the flushing mechanism worked by simply showing one's hand in front of one of two different blue lights on the wall, depending on whether one had done a number one or number two. I especially liked the washing functionality in the toilet, which washed my bum after I had done a number two. It could have been even more sophisticated if it had also had a drying function, which I experienced at another London hotel last year. Now I had to use toilet paper to dry my bum after washing it.

The breakfast was complimentary for this room level, and it took place at the Rooftop Bar on the top floor of the hotel. The ambiance in the breakfast room was very nice and the food was excellent. It was also very well organised, as one needed to wait to be seated.

The only negative thing about the stay was the fact that the signature suite was on the first floor. I would have preferred to have such a suite on the sixth floor, where the view would have been better. Since London, like New York, is a city that never sleeps, the noise from the street would not have been as loud if the suite would have been on the sixth floor. Luckily I had my ear plugs with me, which ensured a good night's sleep. Of course, the Trafalgar Square was clearly visible from the first floor window.

Which brings me to the location of the hotel, which couldn't be more perfect. Like already said, the Trafalgar Square is right outside, the National Gallery is at a five minute walking distance, not to mention all the theatres and nice restaurants, which are also close by.

I warmly recommend this hotel!

Dear 803berntr, Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience staying in our Signature Suite and enjoyed the comfort and amenities, especially the shower and high-tech toilet features. It’s great to know that you found the breakfast at the Rooftop Bar enjoyable and the ambiance to your liking. We appreciate your feedback about the suite’s location on the first floor, and we completely understand how the higher floor could offer an even better view and quieter experience. I am glad the location worked out perfectly for your London exploration, with Trafalgar Square and nearby attractions so accessible. I truly appreciate your valuable comments and look forward to welcoming you back for another exceptional stay! Warm regards, Lidia Camacho Guest relations manager

With this hotel recommended, we made the right choice to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

Before the trip I sent two emails which were responded to promptly.

The room is comfortable, a good size for 3 people, clean, excellent quality linen, water, coffee, tea.

We were surprised when we arrived at the room with champagne, chocolates and a letter that I really value this concern for the customer.

The attentive staff promptly lent us a plug to charge our cell phone and responded to our request to replace a mattress for our daughter's auxiliary bed.

Breakfast is a buffet with the option of eggs cooked to order.

The hotel has an excellent location close to public transport and is undergoing renovation without any interference.

The check-in process at Trafalgar St. James Curio was quite challenging. Prior to booking, I reached out to Hilton to clarify the room type due to the confusing and unclear descriptions on the hotel's website. It is crucial to enhance the website to provide a clearer distinction among the room types. Merely displaying different prices without detailed room descriptions does not effectively communicate the differences.

Unfortunately, I was given misinformation, resulting in a room that did not meet my expectations. Despite facing Trafalgar Square, my room was situated on a lower floor and turned out to be smaller than anticipated. A clearer website would have allowed me to choose a room with a square view and more space by paying extra. Although the room was compact, it was functional and the bed was comfortable. However, the noise from street construction and traffic was disruptive.

The breakfast on the rooftop was satisfactory, with a great view. As a diamond member, I expected breakfast to be included, but I had inadvertently booked a room with breakfast that did not cover all menu items. The buffet selection was limited, and the quality of the food was average. The dining experience resembled that of a budget hotel like Hilton Garden Inn, with inexperienced servers who were hesitant to fulfill service requests, such as providing additional coffee.

Despite the average experience, the valet service was friendly, and the front desk manager, Kurtis, tried his best to accommodate my needs. Ultimately, the hotel is average, with confusing room descriptions on the website.

For those prioritizing the hotel's location, Trafalgar St. James Curio is an ideal choice, as it is conveniently situated in Trafalgar Square and within walking distance of various attractions in London.

Dear matthewlee730, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your detailed feedback, as it helps us continuously improve our services. We sincerely apologize for the confusion you experienced during the booking process and understand how frustrating it must have been to arrive at a room that did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding our website and the need for clearer room descriptions have been noted, and we are working to enhance the clarity and detail of our room information to better assist our future guests in making informed choices. We regret that the noise from street construction disrupted your stay. While the charm of being in the heart of London is unmatched, we understand the importance of a peaceful environment and are always happy to assist with room preferences to ensure a quieter experience. Regarding breakfast, we’re glad you enjoyed the stunning rooftop views, but we’re sorry to hear that your expectations for the dining experience weren’t met. For all our guests, we do offer a full buffet that includes a wide selection of both hot and cold items, as well as additional à la carte dishes such as Eggs Benedict and made-to-order omelets, available at no additional charge. We apologize if this was not communicated clearly during your visit and will ensure our team provides clearer information moving forward. We appreciate your kind words about our valet service and the efforts of our front desk manager, Kurtis, to accommodate your needs. Our team is committed to providing warm and attentive service, and we’re glad to know this was reflected in parts of your stay. Thank you for highlighting our convenient location as an ideal base for exploring London. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide a stay that exceeds your expectations. Warm regards, Lidia Camacho Guest Relations Manager

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Trafalgar in October 2024, and would recommend to others and we will return!

For starters, you cannot beat the location of this property - right on Trafalgar Square, short walk to Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden and Whitehall, close to bus stops, tube stations and plenty of cafes, shops and pubs nearby. A great central place to be for sightseeing and enjoying London nightlife, but also very quiet in your room when it’s time for bed.

The hotel has been renovated since we last visited, and the rooms are fresh and contemporary. We were in a family room and it was huge, we loved having a separate bathtub and shower as well, with beautifully scented Molton Brown bath product’s available. Little touches like charging points where you need them, lots of storage space etc were great. It was lovely to be greeted with some nice touches like a note and gift for our little boy, and some fresh fruit. Also loved that the water and soda in the mini bar is included.

We had breakfast each day on the rooftop, however I think this will relocate back downstairs once the renovation of Rockefeller on the ground floor is complete (it was nearly finished when we were there and looking fantastic!). Breakfast options were plentiful and tasty, and service was friendly and prompt every day.

Service at this property overall was fantastic, truly a highlight of the stay. We always felt really welcomed and at home. From the doorman to the reception team to housekeeping, everyone we encountered went out of their way to ensure we were having a great stay.

And indeed we did - fantastic experience and we will definitely return to the Trafalgar.

Yes, it's another 5-star review for the tremendous St. James. The staff are exceptional, as others have commented, from checkin through checkout. The concierge team helped us with a number of arrangements, and Adrian consistently went above and beyond throughout our stay.

Don't have your heart set on a view of the square... the hotel's corner is on the square but the majority of the hotel faces the Canadian embassy right across the street. The rooms are quiet with the exception of a little vibrating bass as some cars drive by with their music booming. Can't do much about that - there are multiple windows providing soundproofing and we did not find it bothersome.

The Rooftop bar is wonderful and they do not apply the minimum spend to St. James guests. They also save us the best seats, another example of them taking good care of their guests.

The ongoing remodel is noisy in the lobby. Loud grinding occurs periodically and one of the elevators is out of service to take care of the construction workers. We didn't have to wait long and sometimes we used the hidden service elevator to the left of the elevator bank. Secret: you can get to the Rooftop from that elevator with your room key.

Breakfast was efficient and in a beautiful space and featured the usual mixture of eggs etc on the buffet as well as an a la carte menu.

Overall a wonderful experience in a GREAT location. Thank you St. James!

Our first trip to London could not have been any better! From the second my boyfriend and I walked in to The Trafalgar St. James we felt very welcomed by all of the staff. Our rooms were always cleaned up during the morning and afternoon. The Trafalgar St James’ efforts in sustainability was a bit of a culture shock for us but we loved it and hope to see more of it back where we live. Every morning we went down for breakfast and were greeted by sweet Michaela, the hostess, and would make small conversations with her. We had Rob as our server almost everyday. He was very kind, our orders were out in a very timely fashion and he would make sure our table was picked up after every plate we finished. Our dinner server, Magdali, was also very sweet and friendly and always recommended the best meals. No pen and paper was ever used to take our orders and our last days there, both servers got our usuals spot on from memory. It was very impressive and made my boyfriend and I both smile. There’s so much to see around Trafalgar Square and every time we stepped out, we were always greeted by our doorman Trishtan. When we would return back to the hotel, it was always “Welcome Back” “Always good to see you two.” Everyone made us feel so welcomed and we were very sad to leave but if we were to return to London, without doubt we would stay again at Trafalgar St. James.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Trafalgar St. James. The location is great with many walkable attractions and restaurants plus a tube station nearby. The staff is very accommodating and helpful regarding information about London. They are happy to call you a cab at anytime as well. You must enjoy breakfast on the rooftop during your stay, the food is great and fairly priced plus you get to enjoy the nice view. It was rainy the day we ate breakfast there but they have a covered portion. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious for London.

When we checked in, our room AC was not working and the room was extremely hot. After waiting a few hours for the room to cool off, it was still not working properly. The front desk immediately moved us to a new room and even gave us complimentary chocolates with a hand written note. We really appreciated their ability to quickly solve this issue.

I’d highly recommend staying here and would be happy to stay here again.

We stayed here for our first trip to the UK for our wedding anniversary. This hotel was a great location and convenient to many attractions. Staying in a central location is always helpful when visiting an unfamiliar city. The staff were very kind, especially at breakfast on the rooftop. The daily breakfast with views of Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery was a lovely way to start the day- honestly a highlight of the trip. Staff advised sunrise times and weather conditions for the best day and time of the day for stunning pictures. Housekeeping was also excellent with great attention to detail and always fully restocking the generous included amenities.

From the minute we walked in we were welcomed by every member of staff we met as though they knew us personally, the reception area is lovely, quiet and a calm from the noise and bustle of trafalgar square.
We have stayed here a few times now and wouldn't hesitate and look forward to staying again.
The rooms are luxurious with added touches that other 5 star hotels miss, bone china cups and saucers and a varied selection of teas and coffees.
The bathroom is well thought out with Molton Brown products and the fluffiest towels, bath robes and slippers are also available in the room.
The bed was very comfy with a selection of pillows, we couldn't ask for more and thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at The Trafalgar.

Answer from Toby B

There are no self-service laundry facilities within the Hotel itself. We do however, as a 5* Hotel, offer a wide range of services both internally with our Housekeeping Team, as well as additional services by way of an external laundry company. In every guest bedroom there is a complete information sheet detailing services, timings and a full pricelist. Alternatively, our Concierge Team are more than happy offering assistance with locating, giving directions to, and arranging transport to a nearby launderette if that would be your choice.

I’m not sure but you might try calling the hotel directly to ask. The entire staff is over the top helpful!! I noticed a couple of rooms near ours which were identical—the family room, the multi-level room you want. We didn’t need beds on that upper level so it had two comfortable chairs with a small table between—avoid place to eat a meal in the room. You will love it. And the concierge desk is the best we EVER had. Great suggestions for restaurants if you describe the type of food you would like, whether inexpensive, average, or a splurge.
