We stayed 4 nights recently in room 12 and were less than impressed. The hotel location is great with just a short stroll to Earl's Court station pubs and shops but that is where the benefits end. No elevator so a difficult climb with luggage. The room filled with old and mismatched furniture and fittings. The bathroom tired with lime...

We had the front room in the basement. Very small but plenty of light, comfortable beds, surprisingly quiet. Older furniture, a bit shabby, but livable. The staff was friendly. The plumbing was the major drawback. The faucets in the sink were impossible for us to shut off, it was difficult to flush the toilet completely and the water pressure in...

I have several issues with this hotel but will start with the good points: it's reasonable clean and comfortable and the staff I spoke to were pleasant though their English wasn't always good. It's in a quiet neighbourhood just a couple of minutes walk from Earl's Court underground station and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I ended...

Maranton House near Earls Court is a safe hotel in a charming neighborhood. The hotel does not have an elevator. We stayed in #20 and the back room can be very noisy from the neighborhood, as the sound seems to echo up. Overall, it is a clean, safe hotel within easy walking distance of Earls court and many pubs and...

Based on TripAdvisor ratings, we booked our 4 day/5 night stay at the Maranton House Hotel. The price was average, about 100 pounds a night and was in walking distance to the tube and in a decent area. The room we were given was 5 flights up the narrow staircase (no one offered to assist us with carrying our many...

Yes a good location but thats it. Very expensive for what it is. The reception was OK and thats as far as it goes. My advice, if you want basic and I mean basic no frills and want to pay night on £100.00 then this is the place for you. Me? never again!!!!!!!

I stayed at the Maranton on a Saturday night. There was some sort of club/bar just outside my window so the blaring music did not allow for much sleep. The hotel was old and basic but had the essentials. As it's an old hotel there are no elevators, only stairs. The location of the hotel is excellent with Earls court...

Nice, comfortable hotel in a very convenient position. Very good value for central London. Breakfast was OK, usual continental breakfast type. I intend to return to this hotel next autumn. Single room was more spacious than in most London hotels.

We had room 14 and we had a nice view upon a small parc. The hotel is nearby the underground within the main metro lines. The Hotel room was as you can expect from a cheap hotel. Everything that you need is there but it isn't designers stuff. The furniture is best to describe as antique. Don't go for the...

The hotel was in an outstanding location, very close to the tube. The breakfast was poor, I decided not to take it as there are many choices for breakfast (and rather cheap) and generally for food nearby. The room was a little small and not very clean, but I would recommend it if you don't plan to stay in there...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
